Bada bing bada boom. This is why I said to look directly at the axle. Shit can be swapped around and buttons aren’t a surefire way of knowing.

You gotta admit, the rear end on that truck is just a hell of a mess of swapping and hack job. But anyways OP, how much did you pay for this brodozer gem of a tacoma?

Ok ill check that out. Right now i have brake and abs lights on. But thats pribably because i have no brake fluid and a broken brake line. I guess i just need to identify exactly what axle housing i have and make sure i buy the correct third member like you said.

Well the rear drive shaft is iff right now. Came like that. When i shift into gear i hear horrible clanging and banging. Any gear. So i dont know if its jus TV the transmission or the transfer case. Or both. Also had a transmission oil temp light on that went away after it ran for a bit. Could the teansfer case still be good?

Wow they really bent you over on that one. Thats a couple grand off what i paid for my truck with a new frame and 76k on it. At this point keep it and do a solid axle build for it, would be sexy.

It sounds like you're going to have quite the adventure on this one. If the ((P)), ABS, and TRAC light is lit, then it's probably the fuse. If TRAC + ABS only, then I'd bet on a wheel sensor or harness disconnected. Can you take a pic under the hood? Remove the fuse box cover and try to get all components in the pic and we can see what's going on with that. I see one wheel sensor wire still ran in one of your pics. Are you planning on making this an off road beater, or do you want to restore all the factory systems?

Well i think im just trying to get it more stockish. I dont do offroad much at all. No time anymore. It will be more useful for me as somthing decent to drive on the weekends and cruise through a couple rough patches to the beach out here. And im talking really minor. I want to identify what axle this is so i can find the whole third member and just order that.

Update i am an idiot ha ha. I thought the transmission was banging and knocking but its actually the other end of the drive shaft spinning and knocking the gas tank when it goes into gear. Hope i didnt hurt it putting it back into park a couple times after it spun for literally one sec :( so my tranny may be good. It does have a dent in the bottom of the pan but if thats all ill be happy. I see a little leaking up at the front but cant tell if its blow back from the engine oil pan leaking. More to discover!

If i can get this setup to work and get the truck running ill keep it. Ultimately id kike to get the proper axle and licking diff so everything can be as it should be.
