    Seriously. Why do so many guys want so much muscle out of a Tacoma even with the tune installed? It was designed for longevity, camping trips and long Summer days. Go buy a Tundra or a Diesel...or a trophy truck if you got the $$$.

    It’s still a truck, and any truck can benefit from more torque and better drivability. Remember when you could go to the dealership and get a supercharger for your Tacoma with a factory warranty? Is there any one-size-fits-all truck model available these days? Not everyone wants a full size, or 8’ bed, or crew cab, or diesel, or something that won’t fit in a normal garage. People want what they want or need what they need, not what someone else says they should buy.

    It's not wanting muscle really - its wanting it to drive the way its supposed to. I love my truck, as most of us do, but Toyota nerfed the damned tune so much in the name of longevity that the truck was embarrassing to drive at times. It couldn't get out of its own way, it couldn't figure out what gear it wanted to use. Honestly, IMO, the 87 tune and the A/T transmission tunes are how the truck should have come from the factory and the 91 tune is a nice little boost. The A/T tune puts an end the the transmission gear hunting - mostly. Matt / OVTune is doing us a great service and as far as I'm concerned Toyota owes me $700 since I had to buy tunes to make the truck drive "normal".

    Hey, maybe Matt can market the updates through iTunes :D (please don't hate me for that o_O). Hey is that a Ridgeline Rock Crawler over there?! ---->

    I'm running a K&N Blackhawk intake and a MBRP black, cat-back, 3" dual exhaust. I had those on the truck before I installed the tune so I have no before and after comparisons.
    I also installed 17" wheels and 33" load E tires the day I switched to the 91 tune, so again, nothing to compare. Lot of help I am huh?

    They did. The 1 gen Tundra is basically a 3rd gen Tacoma and it came with an available 4.7L V8.

    The hell is toyota doing releasing this bs transmission and ATKINSON cycle. If i wanted to save gas ide buy a prius. I want low end grunt and effortless torque at the flick of the throttle. Its a truck...

    Im not looking for power.
    Top end power is adecuate (although if it is a bonus I won’t complain)
    Is torque, response and shift behavior what is missing.
    Anything under 3000 rpm feels anemic.

    When I become rich I'm going to buy me a BRAND new Tacoma and a BRAND new Tundra and swap the Tundra drive line in the Tacoma.

    Work in progress...
    Regular Drive and ECT off, drop the throttle lift slow and reapply pressure like you are squeezing orange juice. By squeezing orange juice, I mean firm and steady but connected to the results. About 3200 it really comes to life on it's own so that is the easy part.

    I think you and I tuned our tacos around the same time, I wanted to give the 87 a try, but the 91 sounds so much fun.
