Behind Seat Storage

So I have the dual cab, and wasn’t a huge fan of the plastic bins behind the rear seats. I like to carry a fair amount of gear in the truck. I saw a guy on YouTube use wire shelving from Lowe’s for a cheap storage option. I got a couple and tried it out. Here’s what it looks like.

Had to modify a little bit. They are just a tad too wide for the space so I cut the mounting tab on one of the racks flush with the side so that they fit. It is very snug. Also used the existing hardware and a tab made out of some sheet stock to secure it to the rear wall.

I had seen that before I joined. Kinda wanted to see if I could come up with a sort of diy thing. May get that in the future.

That’s a pretty good solution too.

 

That is the most ghetto behind-seat storage option I have ever seen. It is also the most awesome, creative, frugal, and imaginative DIY option I have ever seen!

Those rear plastic bins are so incredibly worthless. One of the earlier "mods" I did was to rip them out. I end up packing *a lot* behind the seats now.

As your next ghetto mod I recommend what I did - run shock cord zig-zagging across the upper part. Even easier to do for you now that you have those wire shelves down there. You can tuck a whole lot of medium weight stuff up there with the shock cord holding it up so it doesn't fall every time you flip down the seats to get something.

 

Sounds like a good idea. I like the idea of the "Diet Taco" you got going there. It's pretty amazing how much stuff actually can fit into this truck.

 

How deep is the space once the plastic bins are taken out? I’m trying to figure a way to store a Emergency BackPack. The bag I’m looking at Is about 9-12inches deep. Any help would be awesome!

 

Do you still have the OEM storage pieces and want to get rid of them? I'd love to take them off your hands for my regular cab

 

It's about 10" or so behind the seats, but the OEM storage pieces chew up alot of space that is there.
I'd have to measure it to be accurate.
