3rz TRD supercharger on 2trfe

Do the two end holes line up perfectly?
Is the center hole directly below the 2TR hole, but in line with the two end holes?

 

In an effort to avoid confusion when aligning the two template, I flipped the gaskets with respect to each head's intake mounting bolts posted on the first page of this thread by 05Taco4x4. Know that the metal 3RZ gasket is under tension and does not sit flat. Hints the reason you'll see objects holding it flat so I can take a picture.


When looking at the alignment of the two template, you can see that an adapter plate is feasible as previously stated. Counter sinking Allen head bolts from the 2TR side through the other so it can be bolted to the 3RZ supercharger (SC) and then the adapter with the SC can be mounted to the 2TR head. Yes the runner ports will have to be adjusted as previously state but it should work. Once I have it complete, I'll have it 3D scanned to share. Here is an illustration of what what I envision the prototype will look like.

 

Look at this sensor on your 2TR- I hope the forward 3RZ mounting hole is not there

If you come out enough from the head to clear it, then you’ll have room- your spacer will have a dog leg

How do you feel about me sending you the templates I have?

An alternative is to 3D scan the 3RZ intake manifold and import it into your model. What file type would you prefer?

Another alternative is to send me your file and I'll model it.

 

That, actually works excellent. Are you going to blend that little hump into the 2tr runner too? This opens up several options if it works!

 

I need you to give me a few measurements.
Center 3RZ intake holes as center as possible over 2TR intake holes (up/down, left/right)- I think you already have, in picture.
Rules
Red line, between the two green circles, is the ORIGIN LINE.
Center of left green hole is the ORIGIN POINT.
All measurements are to be taken at the CENTER of the holes and in mm.

1. Are the top two red circled holes center of the ORIGIN LINE? They look 1~2mm lower, I need that measurement.
2. Distance between red lines.
3. Distance between purple lines.
4. Distance between orange lines
5. Distance between yellow and long orange line (origin)

 

Or why don't you just chop off the flange and weld my plenum flange on?
It's not bolt on, but isn't that hard either... and you'll keep nearly the same distance from the head

05Taco4X4, I would imagine your motive for this thread is to be the premier vendor for this adapter since you already have half the model complete. Excellent! A more accurate measurement can be taken by laying the 3RZ intake manifold gaskets (~$10 online) with one of your spacers and measure with a micrometer. If I had one of your spaces, I can perform the measurement task and return your space once complete.

Agreed, welding the 2TR flange to the 3RZ's runner ports would be easier as previously mentioned by MrCrowntown but it only partially achieves my intent with this project. My other goal is to provide a vendor such as yourself, LCE, or URD with the design files so as to make it readily available to other Tacoma owners. If you can take the working prototype to the production stage, you will be helping me achieve my second goal.

 

I think what you have here, is two different products. The spacer for utilizing 3rz intake manifolds for custom builds, and a direct bolt on, entry level supercharger solution.

I would agree that the application for the adapter can serve multiple uses.

My intent was to save you a lot of trouble, since I had the majority of it done already it seemed easy to take it one more step.
I’ll have to measure how far from the head it’ll have to be just to clear that solenoid too.

When do you plan to purchase the SC?

Thank you for your efforts with this. I have the funds available to purchase the SC but wanted to wait till I further vetted the design for things I missed such as you pointed out with the sensor. Multiple minds are better than one or as MrCrowntown puts it, "Two Sku's are better than one ".

 

I have a 3RZ supercharger on it's way to me right now. Are there any measurements or info you'd like from it or my 3RZ? Also how are you checking if the nose drive lines up with the pulleys?

 

I think yours is the 8 port intake and isn't as close a match to the 2TR as the 01'-04' four port manifold.
