My 2nd battery is in the bed. The ground side of both are connected directly to each other with 1/0 and using the same gauge to the ML-ACR under the hood from the positive post of each battery. I did place a 200 amp 'slow burn' circuit breaker near the second battery on the positive side. No solar yet.

Ok so on a direct wired system, would a cca difference of 100 amps be bad, would they fight each other? One is 585 and the other is 690.

Are you saying we're doubling the EAF points for the italian sweet cream? I'm on board with that. Nevermind the pro eagle points. Those are chump points compared to the sweet cream mod.

I'm liking this Eurovan the more I dig into it. FWD, which means one wheel drive, is a limiting factor. I'm curious where this thing can go, I'm looking forward to finding the limits. It's a comfortable camper, warm and cozy, I'll see how it does offroad.

Is driving to Costa Rica considered overland enough?

Gotta make it all the way to the canal, man!

An aside: A friend just did Utah to the PC; Was taking a picture of his truck when a pair of bike touring folks pulled up to offer a picture. They BIKED from from Patagonia to the PC, and were trying to get all the way to Deadhorse, AK. Some people just gotta do it on hard mode...

I know a couple guys that hopped on their bikes in Denver and started pedaling for Patagonia. They're currently in Argentina. It's been a year. I'd love to be able to put off everything and just vacation for a year+....

I guess the good news about biking that distance is apart from groceries and maybe a few hotel stop-offs every once in a while, cost is basically $0. The cost of your life left behind adds up though...Storage or rent, utilities, etc.

Plus whatever bike parts you have to replace (they've had a few breakdowns) and other equipment since they're using the same stuff constantly, but yah, it is much cheaper then rent and utilities. Traveling like that you also aren't contributing to savings or retirement or anything. But then again I'm the same age as them and a full time student, so I'm not adding to my retirement account...or riding down to Patagonia on my bike. So I think they have it better than me

I'm sitting in my office thinking about Patagonia on a normal day. I KNOW they have it better. Never become a corporate accountant...

Once I am done saving for a house (which takes friggin forever as a single dude!) , I'm pooling my money with a friend of mine, and we're going. Or possibly to Africa, we haven't decided yet. My current employer gives you an extra 2 weeks off (for a total of 5) every 5 years of employment, so that should coincide fairly well.

To each his own, but as a single guy, I think buying a house and being tied to one area is the worst idea imaginable. Screeeeeeeww that. I am gonna live out of my single cab truck and travel around.
