What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Scored a set of 2017 Off Road wheels.....think they will look pretty good on my 2006 silver truck.

 

Pics when you get them on! I was gonna go the same route but ended up picking up a different set

 

I will post some, I saw one with them installed and decided to try them. Got a pretty decent deal I think.

 

What'd you get em for if you don't mind me asking. The lowest I found a set for here is around $450

 

I got them for $550 with all the lug nuts and TPMS. Only 7000 miles on them. Guy even threw in a set of rear Bilstein shocks.

 

That is one clean truck. Looks great!

 

Picked up a bed-rack and got my rooftop tent mounted! This is going to be a great summer!

Even though my Bedslde keeps me from crawling into the bed of the truck it’s not 100% preventable. Occasionally I must crawl on the tailgate. So I got rid of the corrugated plastic tailgate cover and replaced it with a Relentless Fab tailgate protector. Still, it’s metal, and hard on the knees. So, called up McMaster Carr and ordered up some medium soft rubber. Used some 3M 90 spray glue, and then the mounting screws, and Bobs Your Uncle. Looking good. For now. Ran out of glue so a couple spots lifted up a bit. I'll retouch it soon.

I imagine my dogs toe nails will eventually rip it up but hoping it’ll last a couple years.

1st step in adding this DPDT switch to the armrest controls is adding ~7/16" of abs to the underside of the panel. Next I'll adapt my small switch jig to route the through hole and step for the switch which controls a 4-way solenoid for the cab/cap double acting cylinders that are en route.

 

So is this to have a one touch up window?

 

It's for the rear slider on the cab and the cap. I've decided to try doing it with air cylinders instead of window motors. Same switch will work with either but the 4-way air solenoid only needs ~500mA to work instead of ~15A for the window motors and frees up 2 relay slots in the RTMR. Going old school Star Trek doors on this one.

 

Oh cool! I've done the power sliding rear window, but would love to convert my cap window the same. Do you plan on doing a write up thread?!?!

Didn't get any pics but just hauled this new fridge! Got in plugged in & giving it 24hrs to re chill then swap everything over tomorrow after work

 

Raised the driver's seat 1 inch from the rear bolts. Seating position is way better. Will do the passenger's side tomorrow.

 

Hah! Only if it works well enough to recommend it to others. If you already have or plan to install an OBA system then this might turn out to be an easier and cheaper way to go than with electric motors but I don't see it replacing them otherwise. I'm just curious enough to give it a go and see if it turns out. Some things like the switch and window bracket can be made to work with either power source. What I find attractive about the notion is the low profile of a 16 mm x 300 mm cylinder which can fairly easily (I hope) attach to both windows, the lack of finicky cable tensioning, and sparing two relay slots in the RTMR that only has space for 5.

 

Well I'll definitely be interested to see how it turns out. I don't have a plan for OBA but just may if that's an easy way to do this!
