My BSM system never worked for the first year..... they had no freakin ideas either, so I left it till they got some experience and then took it in..... They replaced a part of the rear left wiring harness and solved the issue......

PS... those black caps facing to the rear on the bumper are for the "parking assist"..... The BSM & CTA are radar sensors hidden behind the corner plastic "bumper"....

Most Canadians do not have Parking Assist because Toyota doesn't think we need them, I guess..

There was a problem with corrosion in the wiring harness that was causing the issue. Toyota has since updated the wiring harness.

I guess you could always try a self service car wash and spray in there, might possibly help...

You could take in and have it fixed under warranty. There is a TSB for it for a bad wiring harness. The system is designed to work around mud and snow so it's unlikely a car wash cleaning would make a difference.

Yes, they had a splice in the back by the bumper that water got into and corroded the wiring resulting in the BSM not working. The new harness addresses the issue.

Just tell them to go on TIS and search for the tsb for the BSM.

I'm also from Canada. If the dealership your going to doesn't know what a technical service bulletin is I wouldn't let them fix my wheel barrow.

Mine went wonky after driving on the beach. It took Toyota 4 ish hours to recalibrate. I have invested in some quality mud flaps since then.

There is a TSB for corroded wires on 16 and 17s.

just came from dealer, they are ordering both sensor's and a switch, so they have all the parts so i dont have to come back again, they said its prolly the sensor, that has the ecm it it, i think he said the right one, that controls the system,, time will tell,, they said connections looked fine. still under warrenty, will be no charge

I have a 16 sport. My bsm stopped working last week. I've done the car wash and everything. Called Newmarket Toyota (Canada) and the lady advised there is no tsb for that. Any other info?

Just called a different dealer who advised there are multiple tsb's for this issue, however a tsb doesn't mean it's covered for free unless it's under warranty which my truck no longer is. So they know they made a faulty design but won't cover it. So frustrating.

heading to dealer this am. at 8 oclock, was there a week ago for my BSM.. they ordered the switch, left and right sensors, one sensor is the ecm and the other is the slave, they said they wanted all the parts when i come back, because they dont know which part is bad,lol...mine is under warrenty, if it wasnt under warrenty i would not pay to have it fixed,, update later when i get back,
