Why not just replace the whole LCA? Once you do the bushings and ball joint must be kind of close in price, plus rust and any possible stressed steel

Android/Samsung users what are you using for an aux in cord on the newer 2nd gen Tacoma?

My I phone I could use any usb/lightning cable and it connected with my jbl head unit... but now I've got a Samsung galaxy s7 and the head unit doesn't recognize it with the stock usb cord the phone came with... charges it,but won't connect

Bluetooth works but then the volume is so much lower...

I have a 3rd gen but I had to change settings for bluetooth and then it made it loud like everything else. I'd check around the settings a bit.

My fear is when trying to get them off to do the alignment cams everything is gonna be seized and will have to replace everything as well

Most of the time they are seized so you have to cut them off. I did the same with my truck a year or two ago - bought a spare set of LCA's from @mach1man001 and then pressed in whiteline bushings and proforged lower ball joints. Worked mint - better steering response than stock and a lot better than the MOOG replacements as far as longevity. I also greased the shit out of everything and break them loose every season and regrease them. I replaced all the hardware as well with OEM bolts/nuts/cam hardware.

I also sandblasted and had some of the parts welded to make the LCA stiffer. They etched it, primed it, painted it then treated the inside of them with Mavcoat and then fluid film... I have some minor rust on the outside from rocks scraping it but other than that they're mint still.

I have two spare sets of LCA's right now - the worse one is with @tacobell007 if anyone needs a hot swap pair - they'll need a very good sandblasting though. The other set I have I'll be doing some modifying and then rebuilding them.

How did you end up getting the ball joints out of the arms? I'm working on a pair and the ball joints are in there impossibly tight.

A big 20 ton press.... and a lot of cursing
Getting them out was a lot easier than finding a shop that could press the ProForged knurlled ball joints in... I almost said f'ck it and machined down the knurls until I found a dealership that could do it.

Yes. I pretty much have everything for two LCAs ready to go. Anything I don't use will be passed along to someone looking to do the same (could be you? :D).

Haha thanks! I might pick up the cam bolts and I’ll look maybe getting some bushings. The “premium” LCA from Rock Auto is $100 each. I’m at 57,xxx miles, if I was closer to 100k I would just replace it

Yeah, got the c clips out but my 12 ton press isn't making them budge. Ball joint press with an impact will be my next step, though that might be moving backwards. After that, on to a shop.

Morning all. A quick question, how much does all the parts and pieces cost to rebuild the control arms and how much is a complete arm, all set ready to just bolt in?

You guys have any good front brake replacement options? Pads are getting a little low (almost through the center dust line) and rotors are getting little crispy around the edges.
I do tow a lot, not looking to break the bank, but something above NAPA
