Is there a visual difference from the front between 35170 and 35180?

I believe it’s pretty much the same grill asthetically except for the missing piece where the garnish goes on 35180.

I went up 3" in front and leveled truck all the way around (watch that front drivers side if you lift) after I put the #35170 grille on and I have not had any problems either. Only caveat I will add is that I don't use that TSS much.IMG_0011 (3).jpg IMG_0011 (3).jpg

@KJW truck looks great bro. How do you like the 3” lift? I was thinking about maybe going 6 but not sure if that would be too much.

    Thanks,
This is the 3" Fox lift with Camburg UCA's and just the stock 265-70-16 tires. First time I have gone with Fox as my other two tacomas were SwayAways. Seems to be fine so far....No squeaks or strange new noises and the ride is not much harsher then stock. Got it nice and straight but you have to watch that drivers front corner because it seems to come a bit lower from the factory.
I would recommend them at this point if they fit your plan for the truck because the quality seems to be there.

I will put 285-75's on it this week which should put it up another 1" and fill up the fender wells. Just deciding whether AT's or MT's. 6" will take a lot more modifying then I wanted to do and I've read that the 3rd gen trucks have some issues you have to fix going real high. I don't know if it's accurate though.

PT228-35180 Does not pull up on Toyota's main accessory / part page. Curious as to where this part number came from.

Found it finally. Its not on toyotaasg.com which is the main site for Toyota Accessories but Parts was able to find it. Its nice the old 35170 is compatible with the sensor.

@KJW i guess going with a 3” lift and then later on adding the bigger tires gives you about 4” total that ain’t bad. Besides as you said i don’t want to compromise the ride, and i also don’t wanna screw up the TSS even though i don’t use it. My only issue is the Toyota warranty, i guess if you lift the truck it voids it, so i won’t be doing that until it expires, which is 3 years from purchase date. So till then I’ll just ride stock height

@KJW Also, how much did the lift kit end up costing ya?

I think there are better forums then this one to get warranty info so here is a link back to lifting 3rd gen trucks that may be a better spot for lift and warranty questions. I have not really looked at the topic closely but I have personally not had any problems with Toyota on warranty issues with three lifted trucks since 2011.

The radar issue however is a new one for 2018 so someone else may have some fresh input on that.

@KJW ill check that page then for any info. I normally don’t modify things too much anyway till after the 3 year warranty. For now I’ll just do cosmetic/perfomance stuff like headlights/tail lights, wheels n tires, and roof rack... I can wait on the lift.i also plan on Line-xing the exterior then. But little by little ya know

Just got the garnish piece (OEM) in the mail the other day. Noticed the backside of it is a solid piece of plastic.

So I assume the radar is going to read thru this? Or am I missing something?

Sorry if this has already been discussed on this thread.

Yes, the radar is supposed to sense through the plastic.

Mine has been working great , I pulled negative battery cable off before installing it all. never got any errors at all from system after hooking all backup. Been using the cruise control and its working great. Love that I dont have to touch pedal much

I dont like the look of the shinny plastic. I used a 2017 pro grill and was able to get the TSS cover stock piece off with no issues after cutting those star washers off. thinking I might install some clear plastic behind those opening and install it again and see how it goes with the 2017 stock insert and some mods behind it to cover sensor up completely from objects hitting it.

    (2) Push nuts (1/4" size) from any hardware store to secure the top section, don't sleep on that one.

Thanks to Lateralus for the heads up on size.

Pro Grille, black headlights (with HIDs), SR5 fog bezels and Baja foglights going up this Sunday. Will post up pics when done.

Fingers crossed that the sensor doesn't give me any crap. Was tired of waiting on this ridiculous "VIN freeze" for the 18 grille so I took this route.

Quality looks decent to me and all the tabs are in tact.

Anyone interested in putting together a vid on this? I scoured YouTube but they only got one dude doing a Tundra one. Don’t know if it would be the same set up
