Sorry, it's just one of my biggest pet peeves as a person who installs TV's for a living is people that mount their TV's 6 feet off the ground above fireplaces. Latest tv we installed was 8 feet off the ground. Hurts my neck watching it from 20 feet away.

That just reminded me of the scene in the new Terminator movie when they are having that mag loading face-off

I helped my dad install one about that high. But his logic was that it we could tilt it down and it looked perfect from his lazy-boy couch. Ok then.

That is the logic of everybody who wants it mounted that high. They tilt down don't they... we tell the home owners that they don't want a tv that high in their multi million dollar vacation homes at the time of construction but they don't listen. Then when you mount the tv at proper height first thing they say when they see it is "that is way too low" then I tell them to live with it for a little while and they end up loving it.

I suspect his ubolts broke, driveshaft, brake lines, etc. etc. were already broke, and then they were trying to get him out of that position.

Yeah that was such a weird situation, looked almost like he kept on the brakes but maybe the driveline was locked up leading to that ending.

Reading the comments it seems his cheap u-bolts broke on an incline and wouldn't listen to anybody. Had his own plan and executed it horribly

Given what I'm seeing I would say execution isn't the problem so much as the plan in the first place. :p
