He would then be in a 3rd gen. After owning my 2nd gen and driving my father in laws sport 3rd gen I would buy a used 2nd gen again in a heartbeat. Op get the off road, you will be more then happy with it in stock form.

I’m actually looking at selling my 2015 TRD sport 4x4 DCSB MGM. Have to really thought of a private price but trade in at the dealership is 25k. It has 48000 miles on it. As a bonus I have the TRD pro suspension that I bought and haven’t installed yet. pM me if interested.

I say, in the end it's going to be your truck. Even though we can give you suggestions on what to buy, you will probably be best off going with your gut and getting whichever one you think you will like best in the long run. After all, if you arent going to be off-roading much it basically comes down to personal preference and economical decisions. No matter what Taco you get, they will all last for a really long time and do great off road in stock configuration. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

P.S. Kingaa's Sport seems like it would be about the right price, and 48k miles isn't bad. I had an 03 SR5 with 177k on it and no problems while I had it.

The 15 TRD Sport with 25K is only a few thousand less than what I paid for mine (same truck) when I got it brand new. Didn't have time to look at the other links but I would stay away form this one.

I hear you guys. Seems expensive intuitively, but it is right on line with other listings in the area. And new TRDs are more like 37k+ (just built a new TRD sport with JBL on website: $37,110), so I don't see much of a comparison, particularly with 25k miles and less.

    Examples:

    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...311&zip=27106#resultsPage=2&listing=201262731

    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...lectedEntity=d311&zip=27106#listing=202772487

    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...lectedEntity=d311&zip=27106#listing=201870135

    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...lectedEntity=d311&zip=27106#listing=202229140

Even within our ranks: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rd-off-road-5k-miles-toyota-certified.539501/ ($31k)

    etc. etc.

Sure I would get a higher miles 2015 for cheaper, but I want low miles. There is also something big to be said in my opinion for a really clean used truck and the Toyota Certified warranty.

I appreciate all the comments. I am not trying to justify overspending, just trying to make sense of the market so I can buy one of these beautiful machines!

BTW, I drove the '15 sport tonight, and it is pristine. A very nice truck. They will not budge on price (living up to "no haggle"), so I came home to think about it more.

Well, I am still in the hunt. Both the black sport w/ JBL and the MGM off-road sold.

The '15 Silver off-road w/ ~32k is still available, but is now priced at $26,999. Tempting at that price, but silver is not my favorite (particularly with non-color matched handles and mirrors).

Also came across this '16 Limited w/ ~31k for $31,000. I might drive and look at it tomorrow, although it seems too good to be true. Any thoughts?

Lesson learned. Know what you want and buy it! Used 3-5 year old 2nd gens DO NOT SIT ON LOTS LONG.

I wouldnt even consider a 2016 Tacoma. Too many issues. Consumer reports shit all over it and so do some owners. Go search the forum and learn about these issues.

You should have bought the MGM offroad, sorry to say.

And we all believe Consumer Reports? Remember they have already said the 3rd gen has poor reliability.

That being said, I wouldn't drop 31k on a 16 with those miles

Yea, you need to pull the trigger quicker, my 1st gen when I put it on Craig’s list went in 2 hrs. I had 14 people email me, the first person bought it. People are hunting just like you.

What do you guys think about the '15 with 32k for 26.9k? I am thinking about giving that another look, as it is a good deal now. That is from the same lot that the '15 black TRD sport w/ JBL was at, so "no-haggle." Still, seems like a fair price.

Yeah you got a point there. Consumer reports shits all over Tacomas, for ALL the wrong reasons. I personally dont believe all the bad things people say about the 3rd gens, but its important the other person knows about them I guess. In 10 years the 3rd gen will be what the 2nd gens are. Kinda like when 1st gen owners said 2nd gens are junk, ha.

Will the color bug you though, worst case you dont like it initially, but in a few years you probably wont even care about the color because you will love the truck. Don't settle man, if you dont like the color dont buy it.Your truck will pop up, just a matter of when.

Have you looked at the 3rd Gens. The interior is MUCH improved and the safety features are better as well.

Patience is the watch word. I looked diligently for seven months to find the right one at the right price. I had FireFox bookmarks all over the place, Autotrader, cars.com, multiple dealers and checked them every evening. I ended up driving about a hundred miles to see the one that I bought.
    Good luck!

Aaaand the silver one is gone. Haha. Geez.

I really like the red '16 limited. I would almost never go off-road, so would appreciate the luxury items over the off-road items. It is out of the price range I originally wanted, but may check it out tomorrow.
