Push Button Start for 2012 Tacoma TRD OR. Want modify so key stays in pocket

Is it posible to modify a 2012
Tacoma TRD OR withwa push button start.
And there is NO need to have to take my
Key out of my pocket.
Am new to TacomaWorld and have just bought my truck. Had forgotten what a hassle it is dragging that bloody key out of my 15 - 20 times per day !
Have been driving a Prius V station wagon and took that convience for granted.
HELP

 

not easily. Would have to eliminate the mechanical bits of the steering wheel lock, and add an RFID reader from another vehicle type, + its key, adapted to the Tacoma's body & engine ECU.

 

Wonder if the Tacoma/Hilux sold in Japan are 'keyless' and if one might import such a kit.
Not only should it have been manufactured this way in the first place for the convience of not having to take your key out of your pocket, but also as a 'safety' issue. Say, your wife borrows your truck to go to the store, ... she comes out and for whatever reason, doesn't feel safe and dashes across a dark parking lot. Do you want her to stop at the door and have to fumble for the keys in her purse ? That's just one example.
Now I have to seach to for kit, to correct this oversight. TacomaWorld seems the best place to begin

Not everyone feels lack of keyless ignition is an oversight. Call me old school, but I personally prefer a key.

 

You also are not factoring in the compromise of safety for convenience. The new rage amongst the thieves is to sit in their car with an RFID transmitter intercepter on their laptop some 50 feet away from the vehicle of interest and get the information necessary to not only open the doors, but start the car also when you approach to unlock, and start the vehicle.

They can and will follow you home, see where you live, then at night when you are asleep or having dinner all calm-like they are jacking into your car, opening doors like they own it and taking whatever valuables you left in there. Not limited to just valuables, but the vehicle itself.

I'll stick to a good old fashion hard key/ immobilizer combo.

This never happens. It's horseshit made up by dealers to scare women and therefore sell cars with fancy entry schemes.

They said the same thing touting key fobs that only unlock the driver door on the first click and then all doors on the second click.

"So the scary guy chasing you can't sneak in the passenger door when you're trying to flee to the drivers seat!"

me is plenty happy that my taco dont have the push button start.

 

Sell the truck and go back to a prius then you will be happy. I myself am old school and prefer a key. We don't need all these fancy gadget added to a truck, just one more thing to fail in time.

they can just break a window and steal everything from our good old fashion hard key trucks.

Yeah... they can... they can, but this way allows them full unrestricted access immediately like they own the car, without raising any alarms, or potentially getting shot at... or, or, or.

Any old Tom, Dick, or Harry next door or walking their dog on the street at night would not even second guess someone walking right up to a car and opening the door like it's nothing. Not even I would second guess someone doing it because keyless entry and start is so commonplace nowadays.

Think about this from a theives perspective. "How can I get the most while making the work to obtain what I want as little as possible?" This high tech method is like fishing with dynamite for god sakes.

She should have her keys between her knuckles so she could punch any bastard in the eye that tries to screw with her. They shouldn’t be in her purse.

I’m still mystified at the sexist comment. Can’t have a woman drive a car with keys... she might not figure out how to open the door!

My real response is I wouldn’t treat my wife that way and make her feel completely incompetent to defend herself.

 

I hear what you are saying. But are they really targeting a midsized mass produced Toyota truck! I could see possibly high end imports though.

 

Well given how easy the method would be, they could target ANYTHING now. Given that Toyota's (and many Honda's too) are some of the easiest targets from the 90's to steal and break into, why not continue that trend? (in their minds of course)

Back to the matter at hand
I did not join TacomaWorld yesterday (no joke) and start off this thread to have a conversation about 'old school key starts, vandalizing theaves and wives calling police +/or key between knuckles eye gouging.
What I would like to ascertain, is there a kit to open doors, start and drive truck ? Without taking the key out of your pocket ? Anyone heard of such a kit ?
Where might it be found +/or what's the cost.
Having to get in and out of my truck in sweaty jeans 30 and 40 times a day, 6 days per week, I would gladly invest time and money in such a project.
Am fairly sure there must other threads to discuss theft and old schools.
Might I find some serious Tacoma fans who enjoy and are interested in such projects ?

 

No, there are no push button keyless kits available. The market has spoken and no one wants it.

Just kidding. There is probably something out there, but I can only imagine how complicated the install is on our Tacos.

 

Maybe just leave a key in the ignition and use a second key to unlock? Would have to hang the key partially out of the ignition to lock the doors though. Could put that key on a little hanger from the wiper stock..
