I'm curious what issues you see in sand that is different than you would see in other conditions with limited traction. My truck never liked temperature changes regardless of tune (stock or OV).

We got some good snow in the NE this year and it did pretty well in the snow. I never really got into a position where I needed to hammer the thing but I did some parking lot spins and drifts and it felt ok. On sand the throttle was rough to deal with, in some places it was so bumpy and the throttle was so sensitive I thought I was gonna break something. Keeping consistent smooth pace was difficult with both the throttle and hesitations that occur. It was really easy to loose momentum.

I think the difference is that snow/ice is way easier to blow past those areas of issues due to low traction, on sand there is more grip and more load on the drive train which means you have to stay in those problem areas longer. I cannot speak to dirt and mud yet.

That I can understand. Snow on pavement or even dirt roads is pretty forgiving of throttle input. The tires tend to spin but don't sink anywhere. Sand obviously requires a bit more finesse and excessive tire spin will sink you fairly quick.

Throttle response is still the one nagging thing for me on 1.03C. It is a bit too twitchy for me right off idle. I have been meaning to switch back to 1.03B since I only ran that for 20 miles or so. Everyone is saying that C is more tame than B, but I seem to remember the opposite. Regardless it is far better than the stock tune which had an extremely numb feeling and unpredictable pedal.

The testing/logging/testing/logging we did a while back resulted in a much more stable/linear throttle. I mean night and day over either 1.03B or C. Unfortunately, I predict the "pedal commander types" are not going to be happy with it, because you do have to give a bit more input for a bit more throttle angle. NO TWITCHTY!

Originally, this new (optional) file development was supposed to help out ppl that were having issues with 1.03B/C. I'm not so sure anymore, judging by Mat's recent comments WRT extra stuff being rolled in. In addition, he also tested the M/T throttle changes on his R&D truck. This could very likely mean they will be integrated into the next A/T file. In any case, I'd be willing to wager he's spending a lot of extra time ensuring that the slushbox plays nice with everything he's added. Much harder to do compared to our trucks.

Does anyone have the 91 2T3 file for 04B12? I had just filled up on 91 for 1.03c and only have the 87 for 2T3. I would love to run this thing to satisfy by longing for the new tune to drop. Thanks!

I really like the throttle response on the test tune. Feels much more natural

I can't help you with the 91 2t3, but would you mind sending me the 87 file?

Yeah couldn't agree more. You can actually smoothly tip into and maintain an rpm between idle and 1500 now. 4lo 1st gear crawling doesn't make you "spill your coffee" for lack of a better visual lol.
    The drive is just predictable.

Thats a fact. You can crawl along and its smooth as could be. No jerkiness here. Both in 2wd and 2lo

It was an awesome moment when Mat figured it out. We had been communicating back and forth about the throttle issues (log data, feedback), and after 2 or three files he sent me another and knew it would work. He had a eureka moment it seemed, because after he sent me the file he immediately went about testing it on his A/T pro and proclaimed success (BINGO) there too. T2 was the result, at least on 04B10 ecu.

You guys that don't like the throttle on 1.03B/C really need to get your hands on the T2 test file if you don't want to wait for the official release. You will notice the difference immediately.

Hopefully, he can pull this off in the official release without losing the power you have now mentioned numerous times.

I don't notice any power loss with the test tune on my truck (04b12)

That's my hope as well, and I don't see any reason why he can't do it. I provided him with a log detailing the power issue I had with T2, and specified the time index where I went deep into the gas on the highway. Accelerator % and vehicle load were both near 100%. Remember that T2 is just a test file and of course not an official release.

Yep, T2 is very nice so far. No more jerky hit at about 2500- 3000k rpms.

Hey @MOC221_ , I think the "power loss" you mentioned may be the linear power delivery tricking your brian. I get what you are talking about though, I feel it as well.

Any 04B12ers running a test tune for 91 oct?

Yeah I'm thinking that may be why. I mean, 1.03C 91 was a beast on my truck. Really noticeable power increase on the highway in 6th. T2 definitely felt less powerful, and as I recall I even asked Mat if he'd given me an 87 file by mistake (lol, not much chance of that).
