How much snow was up in the Inyo Mountains?
    How did the Sierra look?
Been to Utah 3 months in a row, might head up 395 next month....

The Sierra side looked pretty good with the snow, very few patches past Mazourka Peak going towards Papoose Flats

Looking back on everyone we drove past or came across this weekend while on the trail, everyone with very newer vehicles were unfriendly, never waved back. instead gave death glares back. But everyone with older rigs were always friendly. Ive noticed this with in the last year or so, it sucks.

The dude and his buddy were both wearing the complete LL Bean catalog which fits the OB demographic, makes complete sense.

Dude needs to stop working on his junk and let the pros do it.

Again it comes down to proper vehicle prep. All could have been avoided.

Now the dude is going to call Toyota Cooperate and try and have it warrantied like that 3rd Gen dude @Freekman with the sheared off CV shaft.

Only one reason why they came loose, they weren't properly torqued. A proper prep would have caught that.

Haha holy shit, I know that guy. I met him by chance at Rowher with 3 of his buddies early last summer, he was leading a night run up there for them. His truck is a Sport but he likes the OR sticker better (he'll gladly tell you that himself). He wanted to do Lookout at night and talked me into leading them up it as he'd never done it before. They did alright minus one guy on stock tires that I had to pull up the steepest part of it. He's likes to blow up the radio every minute of the trail to the point where I had to turn it off because I couldn't take it anymore. Interesting guy...I'll leave it at that lol. He's big on the TW FB and IG groups but not on the forum as far as I know.

edit: referring to the IG dude, not the guy with the broken truck but they're rigs look almost the same.

Is rowher that difficult of an area? Or just difficult enough to make a newb feel confident?

Rowher is easy but requires 4x4. There are little obstacles to challenge yourself. I grew up riding dirt bikes there. Sucks that these freakin overlanders are over there clogging up the trails like everywhere else now.

The dudes buddies failed him, the spectators watching failed him, he failed himself. There was no need for that. Could've borrowed what was needed from the other Tacomas, or sent someone to NAPA or something. I've seen duct tape and ratchet straps as a fix that held up at The Hammers plenty of times over the years, a trail repair is what would be necessary to safely get off the trail. All that was not necessary and could've been prevented in so many different ways.
