I have a 2007 xtra cab I just put Mickey Thompson MTZ's on and I have some rubbing. What's the best and cheapest way to stop the rub one/or put the Bilstein 5100's to stop the rubbing?

Your options are swapping the tires for a smaller size or :sawzall: where it rubs (likely the fender flares, pinch weld, and or cab mount but it could also be the UCAs).

A lift will not stop the rubbing.

Yes sir, only a slight rub at the fender flare and cab mount. I clear the UCA just barely.

Search cab mount chop and that should give you an idea of what needs to be cut

Yep, cab mount chop and cut the plastic on the fender flares. I cut some off of actual fender near the back of the wheel well yesterday to clear my 295s.. cutting tools and a hammer are your friend in the case of creating clearance for bigger tars

Hell yeah, I can do that thanks. I'd still like a little lift. What do you recommend? I like the adjustable Bilsteins 5100's since I probably need new shocks anyway over a small lift.

Id get 5100s, set them to zero, and then pair them with some old man emu coils to provide the amount of lift you want. Youre better off letting the springs provide the lift vs preloading the 5100s to get lift. Your ride will be much better with springs lifting it and 5100s with no preload

885s provide about 2inches of lift, while 887s are a full 3inches (which would require new ucas to get your alignment in spec)

What’s your budget like for lift? If it’s on the low side I’d do what’s being suggested. Friend of mine had that and it rode nice I thought. If you got more budget I’d go King’s all the way!!!

Budget is say is around $700. I saw the TRD package lift with springs and shocks for $679

Im not sure how much the trd suspension offers, i think its either 1 or 2 inches of lift. Either way, its a good option for the price

5100s at the 1.75" setting ride pretty damn nice. Firm, but smooth.

My access cab originally got 2.5" lift set at the 1.75" setting. Then I started adding weight to the truck.

I have 285/70/17 BFG KO2's with 5100's and 887's up front. With the weight of sliders and full skids I had to bump the lower purchase up to the 2nd notch to get the lift I needed after everything settled, and I still might need to go to 886 springs.

As for fitment I have the splash guards removed, I tried trimming them but the first time I went offroad it became apparent they needed to go. A very aggressive CMC, pinch weld folded over, I have cut quite a bit of the front bumper, and shaved some of the back fender, the 285's have done me the favor of removing my flares for me, and I have rolled the lip of the fend itself some.

Even with all that I still rub when compressed in some spots, my tires hit the top of the wheel well when fully compressed like when hitting a bump and when I turn I still hit the front bumper on occasion under compression and the back of the fender too.

    I need to check my tires, I'm beginning to wonder is they're 285 75 17 not 285 70 17's...

I don't believe they are but I have had someone tell me they looked tall for a 33... No one else seems to have the trouble I have with KO2's...

    Hrmmm...

Alignment specs are 0 camber, 0 toe +2.5° caster.

Time for King coilovers and glass fenders.

    ...money-pit money-pit money-pit...

    Worth it.

Throw a tape on those bad boys, it would be weird for a misprint on tires like that but stranger things have happened. You’d likely get comped a proper set of 285’s in the process if that were the case.

Except for 255s on stock wheels. Those things are minimal cutting, but that's not really relevant to the conversation.
