Saw these on a Wrangler. I was wondering if anyone makes these for Tacoma's. Something that hangs down and sticks out from the bumper.

The main reason for this inquisition is, I've got BSM and no bumper manuf makes a legit BSM compatible rear bumper. Those that do, people are reporting that performance isn't consistent. It's a highly calibrated piece of equipment, so it is no surprise that they'd be finicky bolted on an aftermarket product.

So I was thinking instead of replacing the bumper, I could at least give it some protection. Something like these hooks, combined with a hitch slider (i.e. Skidmark) would at least keep the bumper from getting scraped up too bad. I'm only doing mild trails, so these would keep the bumper from dragging. (i.e. Fins n Things).

Anyone know of something similar to this for a Tacoma?

An aftermarket steel bumper is one of the best upgrades you can do, plus you can sell your plastic OEM bumper locally for up to $300.

Some like Fab Fours need the factory tow hitch and are cheaper $700-$800 and others have integrated tow hitch and will cost more $1000+. Definitely get one that has the shackle mounts.

Just to make sure I understand, you want protection for the bumper, not more recovery points? Like, mini-skid plates for the rear bumper?

    EDIT; Something like this?

Yes, correct. Thanks for reading through the entire post. I looked into Avid Offroad and called them, but they weren't willing to make anything that was BSM compatible. I thought of buying it and cutting off the part that would interfere with the BSM sensors, but thought I'd see if there were other options first.

Probably going to need custom fab work for what you want. I found this bumper, seems pretty open but no idea if it interferes with the BSM. I think I see the sensors for the BSM in this pic.

So much tech didn’t even know what sonar was or it even existed. Is BSM backup SENSOR monitor? Is it to detect incoming drones?

Could you weld a piece of DOM tubing to the skidmark, so that it was parallel to and lower than the bumper?

Here's a pic of the BSM sensor. It's in the man's hand.

BSM is backup and Sonar is for parking, just looked it up. There’s already a rear camera, why do you need any of this?

    No disrespect to the OP

BSM, or Blind Spot Monitoring, is to alert you if the lane you are merging into is occupied.

In this situation, BSM would tell you that both lanes are not safe to merge into, as they are occupied.

Ahhh I just looked up BSM (blind spot monitor)...I see, so you don’t have to turn your head and also check your mirrors.... I wouldn’t want to lose all that extra money I paid for the extra tech, I see where the OP is coming from....

    Do they work off road?

My point he was looking for an aftermarket bumper, or tow hooks or something

Do you swap your bumper depending on what you're doing? I'm going out on a limb here to suggest he wants an additional feature on his vehicle without needlessly sacrificing features it already has.

He wants armor that won't render the BSM system inoperable. The tow hooks were suggested merely as supplementary armor for the stock bumper.

In that case he should just get a tow hitch and put a 2” shackle mount in it, that would be cheapest.

Sounds like best option unless he has someone make him a custom bumper... or wait till someone makes that armor that works with the BSM (which Most off-road vendors seem to not care about)
