Hello TW, This is the build thread of The Red Pearl, my 2005 DCSB SR5 4x4 Tacoma. I named it the Red Pearl because I'm a HUGE Pirates of the Caribbean fan and I love the Black Pearl. My trucks color is Impulse Red Pearl, I let it just fall together. Anyways this isn't my first build thread (it is of the taco) I have a couple others of my 98 Z71 elsewhere but I've long lost those and even quit updating them after a certain point. I wish I could make this one super interesting and show step by steps of how I did certain things but when I get to doing things I typically don't stop for photos, I just get it over with. Ive seen some amazing and very we detailed threads on here and maybe one day this will become one. For now its just to show the basic steps of its transformation. And I have actually been a mod of what could have been one of the biggest multi platform truck forums on the web but the operator of it let it slip from his hands. Remember the big Facebook page, Lifted Trucks USA? I ran a good bit of that. But that's beside the point, lets start on this little build.

I bought the truck sometime around Feb of 2016. My last truck was way over done so I wanted it to remain simple for a while, which it did. I brought it home and went to town on making it clean again. Here is the first photo I ever took with it. All it had was some new BFGs and a Pioneer AVH 5700BHS Double din radio (Which is what really sold me)

It remained mostly stock for a while until I started wanted to make it stand out a little. I added a 20" RC Led bar (leftover from my last truck), black bezeled headlights and a 2011 style "honeycomb" grill. It made it look cleaner.

After that I started thinking about color matching things and repainting others. I repainted the passenger flares because they were faded and got the grill and mirrors painted as well. I had got backed into and lucky me, they ran. So I got a new bumper cover and had it done too.

The colors didnt quite match because he didnt blend the paint. Not his fault, I took the parts off and took them to him. He had never seen the truck and I honestly didnt know what factory red pearl looked like so I didnt know the body was that faded. But I ran with it. It didnt bother me a ton because it only showed under certain lighting conditions.

Thats how it sat for about a year. Then I came across a deal I couldnt pass up. After girlfriend approval we made a trip and bought a 3" OME lift including Dakar springs, 887 coils, Light racing UCAs and 18x9 XD Badlands with 33" Firestone MTs. It was used but barely. I met a great group of guys (all taco guys) and they went to town on the truck installing the lift and everything. I drove in stock, Rolled out lifted. After that I felt like I had a whole new truck. I had my last truck lifted and 35s put on and I forgot the feeling of seeing your little stock truck turn into something completely different.

    Here was the end result.

The fun didnt stop there. About a week after the lift was put on I came across something I had wanted since I got the truck. An OEM TRD Sport hood!

It had some dents and was black but I got up with the same paint guy that did my stuff previously and he said it was no problem. I was smart this time and he blended the paint and it matches almost perfectly. I also had him re do the stuff from last time so now the truck is all one color again and now it looks like a 2011 TRD Sport lol. I also had to order the insert that goes inside of the scoop. It came in the black mica color and I decided to leave it black and I love that look.

And thats where she sits now! Heres some other photos I took.

Where it will go after this I have no idea. Ive been contemplating taking it offroad some so possible rock sliders but I dont see bumpers coming any time in the future. I think for now its going to be convenience mods. Brighter lights, Rear mirror mod etc...

Haven't been on here in a while. Been very busy with work but with busy work comes more money to blow on the Tacoma! I ordered a URD True CAI with the MAF calibrator yesterday, should be here tomorrow. I mainly wanted more sound and from what I read you might as well go all out and get one that actually gets fresh cold air. I'm going to try to get some good before and after sound videos because I couldn't find many on the internet especially with stock exhaust.

Nice look to your Tacoma! Like you I am doing some mods inside and out. I put on a leveling kit and will be adding leaf springs in a couple of weeks

I really dont know much information on the wheels other than they're 18x9 XD Badlands. I bought them used so I dont have that information. I am actually selling these to a friend and giving the truck a different look soon.

Well I decided it was time for a little change and Ive been wanting these wheels forever. Just put on 18x9 Method NV (Bronze) -12 offset with 275/70R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Overall Im extremely happy with it and I love these Tires. So quiet, great ride quality and look very good. Im glad I was able to spend the money and finally get something I picked out myself new instead of having to buy used.
