    None of us were there so it’s easy to armchair quarterback. What I will say is both e-brake cables were still attached...and in 4wd. As the axle rotates forwards it pulls on the e-brake cables. And our transfer cases are locked. If the e-brake locks the rear because the u-bolts broke, it locks the front. Not saying he did or didn’t have the parking brake engaged or was still in park or holding the brake pedal, but judging by the video and the point where the brakes appeared to be locked up...I wouldn’t be so quick to assume what happened based on one perspective and one video.


    The recovery thought process on the other hand was all derp.

    Pulling downhill? , also looks like the fj didnt stop when others yelled to stop. But pulling down hill he may not of been able to stop.
    Why was he pulling with winch line instead of winching? It looked to me that he was backing down hill instead of just winching in controled mannor. Hard to tell from the video though what really went wrong first.

    This has puzzled me all day. I’ve been trying to figure out what may have happened as well. Why was he needing to be pulled down a hill to begin with? Busted rear end maybe that locked up after? And why was the dude in the FJ using his winch line like a tow strap?
