The idea is you want to match your driveline angles. When you lift your angles become larger, so putting the skinny side forward would tilt the pinion up, lowering the driveline angle.

Agree with concept, but wouldn't we want to tilt the pinion up a bit, I feel fat part fwd would do this :notsure:

Negative fat part forward would tilt it down.

It's never gonna be perfect anyways. On take off there will always be axle wrap unless you install a drag bar whatever it's actually called.

This is correct and what I’ve been adjusting for the past few days. Actually removed my 3degree axle shims in favor of just a CB drop. From what I gather, it’s best to match the angle (within 1 degree to allow for needle bearing rotation) of the front and rear half of the driveshaft. The pinion angles of the tcase and rear diff SHOULD be parallel, or close to it. I do mainly hwy miles so any and all vibrations are important for me to eliminate.

Skinny part forward will angle the pinion towards the ground increasing your u-joints angle, fat part forward will decrease the u-joint angle and point the pinion towards the t-case

Or you can do what I've done in the past and make a laddal bar and put it on a shackle like the leaf springs so it can move the way a leaf spring set up moves. There are also "slapper" bars and other such devices like caltracs that help with axle wrap.

Many ways to skin the axle wrap problem but none are really perfect.

You got that backwards if the skinny part is
Yes match the drive line angles but you have the shim angles backwards.

Fat end towards the back rotates the pinion towards the ground thus decreasing pinion angle and increasing the u-joint angle.

Fat end back lowers the back of the diff away from the leafs pointing the pinion up(SUA)

CB drop is snake oil. Toyota set the t-case and CB u-joints to the correct angle. dropping the CB introduces more misalignment into that forward section.
