I’ve been thinking of putting some pods on my spreaders so we can see better in the low light getting into the slip.

I couldn’t imagine trying to race in our club without a kite. Everyone uses them. My boat would get smoked. I’m glad that I’m a 10 minute walk to my dock and through the mooring feild to the first marker bouy. Although I started a new shift at work and won’t be racing this year. I may try and do a couple of the weekend regattas though.

Trailer runway lights are awesome. Definitely worth the cost.

We do enough over-nighting on the lakes that its a necessity. The first time I strapped a couple headlamps 6ft up the mast to shine in the cockpit so we could at least cook dinner lol. It worked but was a royal pain.

Ya i just accept im not going to do well until i can use a kite and keep up lol. we usually go for the "most fun crew" award anyway :D

Yeah, but I'm dealing with a shallow-draft powerboat in fresh water, so it's easy to pick them up after. For that kind of depth you'd want to either tie them to the trailer or just install waterproof pod lights on the trailer itself. I've considered pods for my trailer, but it's just a cheap old runabout so I'm holding myself to a budget since I'll probably upgrade in a few years.

Edit- Photo to give you a sense of scale about why I'm being so cheap with it:

It was $300 for the boat, trailer, and not-running-at-time-of-purchase engine. :notsure:

Ha I can’t even see the bunks or any of the trailer once i get half a boat length from it any way so it’s all kind a moot point i guess

The fun crew is probably the best award out there. If your not having a good time you shouldn’t be doing it. I enjoy every second I get on the water. Im fortunate to get as much time as I do. We get out 4-5 times a week during the summer. I’m really hoping to do more overnights this year. Living on the Penobscot Bay we have a ton of places to go. I could sail every day for a year and not see it all.

FYI defender marine is having their yearly sale in store and online. Most items at least 20% off. Some stuff much better. If your near CT big warehouse sale lots of vendors. GF and I went. I got all the parts needed to build a whole electrical system from scratch, lewmar hatch parts, line and some other stuff. I had previously priced out all the parts I wanted from a mix of sites I saved more than $200 on that stuff alone. So worth a shot sale ends tomorrow.

Not at all! I put some serious miles on that truck with the Whaler in tow, dozens of 3-4 hour trips. That pic was taken about ten hours drive up in Cobscook Bay Maine, loaded with camping gear. I never wished for more power and it never skipped a beat. I’m not exactly “light footed” either, it was very happy cruising at 70-75.
