I haven't tried it but I would imagine it wouldn't be that hard to wire up. The hard park would be to take apart your entire front dash to get down to the switch or wire.

sure does look buried...perhaps adding a Blue Sea 5amp dual usb right to the battery would save me hours of work. the wireless pad is pretty slick though.

+1. I went the easier route and just wired in a dual 2A usb port:

Probing around behind the left side kick panel, I found a source for constant power.

From what I understand the pad is the slow charging pad (FYI). I have no idea why Toyota did that but whatever.
If you want a fast charging 2.0 amp or better you should run a new line.

seems nuts. but you are right. took about 10 min for my iphoneX to go from dead to seeing the apple. On a 5amp it would have been about 1 min...

Now if there was a way to replace the charger to a 5amp, that would be worth taking apart the dash.

easy to find? If I can pop out the 12v stock socket and replace with a 5amp Blue Sea with constant power, id be happy.

Yeah I was in about $250 for the whole thing. But almost $100 of it was extra wire, connectors, and tools. I could do it now for for less than $100...I think.

Its nice because everything is protected and there is no splicing. Also if you need to take it out having everything on quick connects is nice too.

It wasn't horrible. There is a ground point behind the HVAC panel and another under the left kick panel. Under the kick panel, there is a mount for several harness connections and an unused connector stowed behind it (sorry no pics). I just probed around until I found a constant source. It is usually easier to probe the back side of connectors than in the fine pin holes.

The stock power port is easy to remove. The harness connector can be pulled off once you remove the HVAC panel (snapped in). You can see a black square in the bottom of the metal part. There is another opposite of it on the top side. Gently push those out and the metal sleeve will slide out toward you. Then, you can remove the plastic part by pulling toward you.

You can see it apart here:

Is about 0.5A. Not really meant for charging, just powering a thumb drive for music.
