What's the recommended backspacing/offset for new rims on a 2nd gen w/2.5" lift? Looking at ProComp 5001s in 16x8

 

Stock backspacing works (5.25") I run 1" spacers just cause I like the looks and had them from my last setup to clear the UCAs. If you run a 4.5" backspace that's fine as well, and keeps the options open for different suspension or tires later on

 

Roger. I was just going to keep my snow tires on my stock wheels and buy a new set for my summer tires anyway. Remounting tires is annoying.

 

yeah I have two sets of TRD Sport Rims. One is kind of a plasti dipped crap set with my 265/70R17 winters on them. The other is the set that actually came with my 2015 that has 255/80R17 cooper stmaxxs on it for the summer. When I was stock suspension I needed the 1" spacers to clear my UCAs with the 265/70R17s. I liked the wider stance so I just left them on when I lifted the truck and threw on the 255/80s. End of the day with spacers as long as you install them correctly and check the torque they are ok. When ppl scream it destroys your wheel bearings, just think they create the same amount of offset as that new set of wheels. The only issue you run into is if you installed them wrong and the nuts loosen up. And in a way they do add some un-sprung weight to the truck but so does heavier wheels and tires

 

Literally in the same boat right now, except I have a OME 3"lift on the way, with LR SPC UCA's. I have been looking at the same wheels, but currently have steelies on mine. Here is how my truck sits as of a few days ago.

 

I've been looking, and will continue to so, but I'm looking for information whether Dick Cepek EC 255/85R16's on 16" TRD PRO (MY 16-18) wheels will rub with a 2-2.25" lift, JBA UCAs and 3-3.2* of castor. I was originally going with Cooper ST Maxx but now am trying to decide between them and the DCEC.

Edit- 16" TRD PRO wheels are 16x7, +13mm (4.5bs).

 

Nice! Sweet truck. I think I have decided finally to go with 255 st Maxx. The reviews on them vs. the Ko2s makes the decision a little easier. Now to determine what wheel back spacing is ideal.

 

I am still undecided on the KM2's or the ST Maxx in the 255/85 flavor.

 

I’d let your intended use of the tire make that decision for you. If you need a MT, get the km2. Mine have served me well. If you’re not spending a lot of time hard wheeling, I don’t see any reason to run a MT. By 99% if the accounts I see, the st maxx is a great tire.

 

Welp, just ordered (5) BFG KM2's in 255/85/16. I can't wait to get this lift and tires on the truck in a couple weeks.

 

You should post before and after pics when you install them.

Right around 55ish lbs a piece. Lighter than some of the other's I have compared too.

 

For sure. I’m rolling the same size Cooper ST MAXX and I think they’re 58-59

 

I'm running DC EC on 16x6 Level 8s on OME 885s with SPC ucas. No issues. Great tire,and they only weigh 50#

 

How are these working out?
Do you know where they are made?
That seems to be the deciding factor for me since I’ve only seen one bad experience in TW World.

 

I'm looking for some feedback for those that tow with their load range E 255s. I have 255 85 r16 ST Maxx and wondering about tire pressure with the trailer. I run 36 psi cold for daily driving but wondering how high you guys pump them up when loaded down. I know allot of people put them all the way up to near 80 but it seems excessive considering how light the taco rear end is.
