    Not bad. Just make sure you mark, drill and tap it correctly. I made a few mistakes not making sure I drilled it at the right angle and ended up drilling out one of the taps and putting a nut and washer on the inside of the frame.

    I am beginning to wonder whether 600# king coils are adequate for a 1st gen hanging any weight over a stock configuration off the front. Both you and @eon_blue are running them with some added weight and having some issues.

    Are you still on King's default valving configuration? I think he is if I am not mistaken.

    I think he just means that it's not sufficient enough, he may be right but the only extra weight I have up front is a 3/16" steel skid...no bumper, yet. The stock spring configuration was what...500#? I would imagine 600 should be enough but maybe I'm wrong, or maybe they do just need to be valved a little differently.

    mm i doubt it.

    OME coils are only 550 for 882s and 590 for 883s. Granted, I do NOT know how much or in any they get precompressed to load them up more. Which I know they are precompressed a bit i just don't know how much exactly.

    And i'll find out as im about to put a plate bumper on 600s. Though i can't imagine that is the problem. It just sounds like more valving in needed as extra weight changes the valving requirements. If you have too much weight it will over power the shim stack if you don't have a stiff enough one in.

    Id still wager stiffening up the compression a bit and slowing the rebound would help.

    I would agree with this assessment that extra weight shows how inadequate the default valving is that King is using.

    I do not think the fix for this will be found with bump stops. And certainly not with hydros as some have suggested.

    I’m not sure what spring rate to step up to. I need to figure out a better shim stack/valving also because as is this setup is clearly not working.

    Yeah its also why nitrochargers work because they are valved very stiff and ride like hell with no extra weight.

    Bumps would not be the solution here.

    Talk to DSM. If you bought them from them I think they do a revalving for free first time..not sure on that though. But just talk to them about it and they will tweak it. Or DIY.

    @TMFF also is a good option.

    You might consider monte's suggestion VVV to rebuild the shocks rework the shim stack when you do.

    I am running 700# coils on my Kings and don't normally get into the stock bumps, even when getting aggressive. However, I don't think those are the way to go for most, especially with less weight and e-rated tires with their stiffer sidewalls.

    The 700s work well for me and the off road performance is awesome (stock valving) but it is likely due to all of the weight I am carrying. Plate bumper with winch, and full budbuilt skids and sliders on an extracab with a v6.

    The perfect storm of conditions haha. I too believe that a revalve will help him, I didn't change my spring rate at all but my Icons are completely different beasts after a rebuild and revalve for my uses. 650s work nicely in my case.

    I am a little leery of comparing what you have to his King issues, The Icon 13" coils are a different beast compared to King 14"ers. Then there is that whole progressive/digressive thing. Just sayin...
