I guess the biggest unkown is the economy of Arizona. I am in real estate development, so OC is going crazy right now. We are starting 2,000 units in Arizona so I guess it looks pretty strong out there as well. As many of us know, without some type of family help, owning a house in OC (in a decent area) seems like more and more of a pipe dream. Not interested in a 4k+ mortgage in a less desirable run down school district neighborhood.

Scottsdale is where the money is at in Phoenix. I’ve never lived there but I know people who have and I’ve visited a few times. Personally, I’d do it. Especially if salary is equivalent because the cost of living difference will make you feel like a rolling pimp out there.

Of course, I say that without knowing any of your personal life or family ordeals, but from a guy who is tired of Being stomped on to please the few, I’d jump.

You're forgetting, buy RZR1000 to drive to work.

Going to head out in a few weekends and see how it looks, price wise, commute wise, etc.

This is what I have noticed lately which is why I am ok with possibly moving to Utah. I’m sure one day I will try to live in Cali, but man it seems many of the guys who can live there without issue make 6 figs minimum without having a minimalist lifestyle.

Without trying to sounds like a dbag... my wife and I are on relatively high salaries, and cant even begin to figure out how we could a afford a modest home in a decent school district. Outside of commuting 2hrs each way. Its getting old.

6figures in OC doesn't get you very far, unless youre renting with roomates and have no high bills or kids.

Word. I make decent money and my wife started back at work 6mo but looking at housing prices just makes me sick to my stomach when I look at the mortgage.
As much as I want a house with a yard for the kids I just can't bring myself to pay what people are asking. I really like the low payment on my condo.

Schools around my condo suck ass but even across the street where I would be in Torrance Unified the school rankings have dropped significantly the past few years.
Only in the $$$ parts of Torrance (West, South and North to some extent) have the school rankings been stable.

Development in Arizona is going up big time right now. Many companies, including mine are opening up giant data centers and what not because costs are so cheap and moving resources out there. I was talking with my uncle a couple weeks ago, he has a house in Havasu and he said the prices of property are skyrocketing and new homes are being built constantly.

Yeah I am on Western just north of Narbonne High and The Ice Rink on the LAUSD side of Western. The condo track right before the railroad tracks.

Lomita Math Science Magnet used to be great but has significantly dropped in the last several years.

We are seriously considering the Japanese Private school on Lomita between Crenshaw and Pennsylvania Ave (Nishiyamato Academy of California)

Good to hear! I've done some research and it looks to be even more "up and coming". Hell the cheapest home we are currently building in Irvine is 2.3, I could probably afford the garage.
