I didn't think the anti virus would have caused it but at the time I was just trying anything to get the software in. Sure don't want it to happen again and would like to avoid bricking the ecu.

I found the 18 stock to not have the issues with power that the 16's and 17's have. I could easily putt around in high gears.

My biggest issue was the horrendous and quite frankly almost dangerous throttle response. Driving a manual is all about needing decent throttle response for smooth and accurate shifting. I felt like i was learning how to drive all over again and it just made it so much work to drive every day.

The tune resolves that about 85%. There's more power down low at about 1500 and above. But below that it kinda falls on it's face where the stock tune could still manage to pull smoothly.

My #1 complaint on the ovtune that hopefully gets addressed is throttle tip in. That very initial touch of the throttle is too on/off and can make slow speed driving and highway cruising a bit annoying. I could not see driving in an off road situation using 4lo with the throttle mapping as is.

#2 is I have stuttering under load at about 2300-2700 rpms. It's not all the time but worse when cold and it wasn't there with the stock tuning. I'm aware of the sensor issue others have had that 18's are not immune too and I've only owned the truck during winter. So if the sensor is going to fail, i'll know as the temps warm up.

I've ran the current 1.03c tune for about 2000 miles. I've only flashed once and outside of the above it's fine. Idle's smooth and definitely makes the daily drive less work and more enjoyable.

I'm definitely impatient for the update as if it solves 1 and 2, i'm golden. :)

Agree with the above. I found the 103c a good tune but it degrades after some miles. I found that the first tune he did, the 103a, was probably the best tune for me. I didn't have the aggressive throttle the 103b has but still give you a quicker throttle response that the stock tune. Also you will notice a little more torque in the lower rpms and a little more HP after 3,500 rpm.

I run sophos antivirus on my laptop and had to kill all the services manually until next reboot for the software to work correctly. I'd recommend that the next time you want to flash the ecu.

Agreed. On test file 2 and after 500 miles I'm going back to 103b for another test run.

I created another partition to use for flashing with everything disabled or removed. It’s saved me a lot of headaches and I don’t have to think about it when I go to flash again.

I'm not sure which circumstance would lead to that message popping up.

During one of my flashes I forgot to disable my anti-virus and PCMFlash disappeared (killed by the anti-virus software) when it was about 48% into the flash. Since it was completely killed, there was no way for that message to pop up. Talk about a puckered bum-hole moment. I took a deep breath, did NOT turn off the ignition, killed the anti-virus, and reflashed without any issue.

I agree. I love the more aggressive throttle response of 1.03b (aside from the on/off tip-in), but overall I think the initial 1.03 tune was the best so far. I haven't tried any of the test tunes, but I'm looking forward to the final result.

I agree, 1.03b didn’t bother me aside from the tip in.

I’ve been running 2T3 test tune and it’s been pretty great for me all around

Only problem with 1.03 M/T original was that it didn't work with 04B10 ECUs. We had a test tune only without ignition enhancements.

Wasn’t that like every tune prior to the new test tune?

Similar to what happened to me but I got the message and my flash program was still there. Sure tighten up the rectum. Makes me hesitate to flash again but I know I will.

Lol, you'd think so by all the bitching I do.

1.01B worked great for me, but at that point Mat hadn't messed with intake VVT or ignition yet IIRC.

BTW, when I say 1.03 didn't work for 04B10, I mean it wasn't driveable. Other ECUs were fine with it.

    I'm just messing with you.

Hahahaha...I took a 500 mile trip this past weekend and the surging got progressively worse on 1.03C after the trip. Interested to see the difference between the two. I'm headed to Tennessee next week and would like to try it out on the drive up.
