Just purchased a 2017 Double Cab Long Bed Tacoma and looking to get a cap for it. Been trying to find a used one as i don't really have the cash for a brand new Cap right now. I found a guy selling a SnugTop for an 05-15 with a 6ft bed. My question is will this Gen2 SnugTop fit a Gen3 Tacoma with the same length bed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure the dimensions are just slightly different for our bed. The other thing you will have to consider is the fact that our bed rails, I believe, are 1" higher than the previous generation which means if the cap is flush with the cab roof line on a 2nd gen, it'll be off on the 3rd gen, I would assume.

Thank for the feedback. I figured they would be off. They're probably off by a tiny amount too. The height difference wouldn't bother me for the price he wants, and its a color match. I was more concerned with how it would sit on the bed rails and the mounting.

Is your truck 4x4 or 4x2?

Nevermind, it doesn't make a difference for the bed.
I'm trying to look up the specs for the two different years beds. All the spec info gives is the inner box size, not the outer portion of the bed which is really what you would need. One main reason it may not work is because of the lip on the tail gate for the 3rd gens. The 2nd gens don't have it. I believe it adds an inch or two to the overall length of the bed which may conflict with the rear window on the cap. Have you tried calling up a manufacture?

Calling the manufacturer was going to be my next move once this guy got back to me. Not even sure if he still has it for sale, just saw it online and thought i'd reach out to him.

I kind of thought the same thing with the tailgate just being a little longer.

Yeah Snug Top said the tailgate would be the issue.

problem solved. Unless, like I said, you would want to modify it being that its at a reasonable price.
