So its bothered me since ive had the truck (they look like parking lights) but the DLRs suck!
I normally drive around with my lights on, but I see many many 2nd gen tacos without them..How does one disable these but still have turn signals?

if its been posted Im sorry~ I did do a search on here as well as Goggle and none are definitive

I can turn them off from the stalk on my 2014. Canadian models do not have an Off position. So, it depends on year and country whether you can turn them off without a modification.

I bought the Diode Dynamics Smart Tap flasher and the OEM grey plastic jumper block from Toyota. That eliminates the DTRL and the Smart Tap flasher does several really cool things.

Here's the part number for the grey plastic jumper block. In the pics above, it shows the plastic block and flasher for non DTRL and the 2nd pic shows the Y harness and flasher that are used for DTRL.

Here's the Diode Dynamics page. You need to choose the Smart Tap flasher from the drop down menu, if you want to be able to do cool things.

I dont really need the strobe/ flasher deal (illegal in CA anyways) but does the flasher I have just swap with the non-DRL one?

No. The DTRL flasher with the Y harness is different than the non DTRL flasher that is used with the grey plastic block.

The other cool thing that the smart tap flasher does is the driveway illumination after you lock the doors with the fob.
