I'm on walnut and 256. Right across from flemming middle school. I've been home when they are getting out of school and the kids are shitbags... parents aren't much better. My German Sheppards are probably smarter than most of them based on the stray homework and trash that float into my yard.

My biggest problems with schooling are

    1) Public Education / Schools are involving students it to much politics and not enough practical education
    2) Most private schools are religious based.

I would really like to see a private secular school that actually focuses on core education (reading, writing, math, science, history, etc..)

I at least put 70k+ on my baja suspension before going kings up front.
Still running the baja shocks in the rear for a bit longer.

Wow man I guess cali is worse off then I thought for housing. Is it safe to assume almost all of you guys are pulling 150k+/ year? I could afford a 250k house on my salary, but was t sure if you guys all rock 450-500k homes?

I’m pretty sure most everyone in here rents, with a few exceptions who own. (Or live with their parents before some smart ass throws that out at me). Only 250k homes around here are mobile homes or in the middle of the desert.

Ah ok, so what is the average in rent? 3k/month? I’m paying 2200 right now which is cheap with a roommate.

Yea that is pretty nuts, so what’s the plan for retirement? Move away from Cali? I couldn’t imagine never owning a home when I’m ready to retire and I still don’t own anything.

That’s not horrible man. We got apartments around the dc area that are like 3k for a two bedroom.

Retirement is interesting. I am considered a "high income earner" so I am capped at 8% able to contribute. So I have to max that out, as well as contribute to an outside IRA. And yes, the thought of not owning outright for retirement is extremely scary. I would say most in the state will be f*****. lol.

The wife and I lucked out big time... bought a condo with 3k down for 120k when home prices were shitty. Spent 5 years there and sold it for 235k right as things were picking up. Found this property in lomita first day on the market. 10k square ft lot but house is 1200 square ft 2 bed 2 1/2 bath for 650k. We put all the profit from the sale of the condo down on the house. Never looked back and even though the kids are assholes I love it. Lomita still has the small town vibe where I actually talk to my neighbor.
