It's less Tacoma and more mod
While I am unsure if this is entirely correct it does make more sense otherwise lift wouldn't be possible and we'd all have very bouncy under-supported rides if it were as Ben described it.

Hell yeah adjusting the coil changes the ride a lot. Makes it stiffer. Because we are compressing the coil more.

So i have 600lb coils, standard on kings

at 0'' lift/no preload it takes 600lbs to move the coil 1'' down. We are all in agreement there.

Now if i precompress the coil 1'' that means there is already 600lbs of force applied. This gives me lift, im not sure how much but id bet a LOT, i only cranked my 3 turns which is like 1/4"? maybe? and it gave me approx 1'' lift from where it was with no preload. So now for the coil to move 1'' it would take 1200lb of force. This does not change no matter what the length of the coil is.

    Make sense?

I’ve done mine but like last year ish

I haven’t been impressed with the superbumps in the rear of my truck really

Given I should have went with the welded rod ends on my rear Kings to get another inch of shaft ish then re modify the bump plate. Still leaving my rear deavers about flat

Then I’d pull about 11” instead of 10”

Gotta be better than stock :notsure:

Only other option I could find were Timbrens which were pricier then of course hydro bumps but my build doesn't exactly necessitate those

hydros out back would be nice. But they are hard to fit as really you can only mount them outboard the frame without going into the bed.

My exact issue. Plus with the limited uptravel of the first gens I didn’t wanna be bucking everywhere... although could just run low psi in them

Nah they would keep you for bucking everywhere. If done right and the shocks right.

definitely not ideal though without a wider axle..

Was just looking for an alternative to the harsh-ish bottom outs with the hydros but decided against them. I threw some foam shaft bumps on the shock shafts cut in half and those have actually helped a bunch surprisingly.

Even after having a shock guy valve my rear shocks twice it’s hard working with The limited numbers without going SUA, links, cantilever, or going into the bed

Those wouldn't be bad if you're willing to either drill and tap your control arm or drill and tap the strike plate on the frame to thread them in

Ok so I only need bump stops for 1 side, I forgot that when I changed them I could only get 1 pair off because the other side was seized. Might go OEM just so I don't have to do anything but screw them in
