Uh, what is this thing?

It's shaped funny, flips up, and is behind the passenger seat in my 98 taco. What is it?





I can't think of any possible use for it. I'm thinking about removing it when I replace my carpet...

 

Its a cup holder. You can put the legs down.

yeah that thing confused the heck out of me when I first got mine as well. pretty worthless if you ask me, I can never understand when I would use it as a cupholder when you can't reach it from the driver's seat.

 

The only way I could think of, would be if you had 2 passengers. If you have 1 then they sit up front and already have a cup holder. If you have 2, then 1 would sit in the other back seat and use the cup holder. With it folded down you can't sit in the 2nd back seat. So if you have 3 passengers it becomes useless again.

 

yeah I'm thinking of just removing mine if it's easy enough.

and I was looking at your pictures, how did you get the white instrument lights? I really like the lexus white, the green is just so boring.

I used bulbs from superbrightleds. You'll need 4x 194 sized bulbs. I used wled-xhp5's in white. I also used 2x 74-xhp3's for the lights behind the ac panel. I used a key to slightly widen the bracket for the bulbs in the ac panel. It's very slightly to small to get the new led bulb in.

Taking the dash apart isn't really hard. Just time consuming. There was a really good guide with pictures I was looking at, but I can't find it now...

 

Its an extension for mounting a car seat. My 2000 had it also.

i use it as a toilet, just put a pan underneath and your good to go...

Sure you can reach it from the drivers seat. It's right behind the passengers seat.

It's for the driver to use when his passenger is using the front one or for a kid in the back to use.

I have a 2003 and it's in there.
