Under my truck last night I realized that I need to relocate my exhaust pretty badly...not only did I tag it hard on the last couple trails but it's been hitting my leaf springs now for awhile and the rubber hangars on the end keep breaking from the length of it and how much swinging it sees with the trails I do.

Where do you guys relocate your's too? before the passenger wheel coming out the side I assume is the best place? Don't know if I want it dumping right under the truck, the TRD header/exhaust combo is loud (at least to me)

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I wouldn't say it is the best place but it sure is easy. I'll be going back and routing it over the frame and out the bedside very soon here.

I just had it repiped. I wouldn't recommend cutting it short unless its right by the spare tire with a quiet muffler. Otherwise if you cut it at the axle the cab drone can be pretty annoying.

I don't think I could drive Frank for long if the piping didn't go all the way out.

Mine's loud...if I'm not careful it'll set off the neighbor's 3rd gen Tacoma alarm when I leave for work in the AM especially when the truck is cold.

it always surprises me how loud mine is when you hear it bouncing off something or the off chance someone else is driving Frank. probably nothing left in the muffler anyways haha

I didn't either but I think it's the headers in combo with it. I dunno, I used to worry about it but it passed CA smog with flying colors a few months back so I guess it's just the way it is haha.

Mines stock and my tires make enough noise I don't ever hear it
After all you do have an aftermarket muffler too don't you? I wanna chop mine behind the leaf spring but I've been putting it off

    upload_2018-4-10_16-10-59.jpg
    upload_2018-4-10_16-11-21.jpg

    14'' maganflow muffler.

    I cut igors like this:

[IMG]RearLift-23.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

works well and is still quite.

That is true i know headers really can change it. Changed my dads a ton. I've passed up some TRD headers here and there..kind wish id grabbed some. DT ones will be fine if i decided to do that ever.

I cut mine too. I'm getting a new one tomorrow. Can't decide so I'm going to a shop to do a blind listen test and make up my mind from there.

yeah it was one of the few mods the previous owner did to my truck (TRD supercharger and TRD headers/exhaust). I do like the sound just have to be careful with it in the neighborhood if it's really late or really early. My fiancé says she can hear me coming from a few blocks away if the windows in the house are open, lol.

I remember someone found a bunch of brand new sets of TRD headers unopened in a warehouse a few years back, they were being sold on eBay (at least that's what the story was). Doubt any are still left but I still see a set pop up on here from time to time

I realize this isn’t 1st gen related at all but I think some of you might think it’s pretty Bad A like me. The things that pop up on facebook.

I feel like the things lite enough already it probably just floats on snow. Looks like a fun little machine, if it can actually handle the tracks.

I like where you cut Igor's. Probably end up with something similar on mine. Just don't like it hanging out the side and not to mention the leafs springs have hit it lol

I cut my exhaust by the cab and put a muffler on it and called it good. I don't recommend it, at 2500 rpm it's loud really loud. Great way to shut the gf up or annoy other drivers.....and scare the deer off lol

I don't have an explanation as to why, but I do have a fascination with vehicles like this. I'd love a Vanagon, or a Mitsu Delica... Anything where the operator is also the crumple zone, really. Something about the proportions just works, as far as design language

I'd run tracks if I had cash I needed to get rid of

I’m ordering new Alcan rear leaf springs this week. I’m wondering from the look of these pics if I should have the pin hole moved back 3/4? I’m guessing yes just want to be sure.47D6B6D0-DB74-4FEE-951E-CDA8974B4B38.jpg A1F539EA-B46E-4D2E-B08B-270221DF84F0.jpg

Do you mean moved forward? If so, I probably would ask them too.
It didn’t matter when I had 31’s but bumping up to 33’s I would have had to trim less if the axle was centered.
