Your missing one key detail. It's not a business. He still has a day job and kids. So it felt pretty ignorant when someone started attacking Meso, calling his process "BS" without any real argument. After people explained to him why Meso does it this way, he continued to be ignorant. That's why people started jumping down his throat defending Meso. Would we like to have a pre-order list? Absolutely, he used to do it that way until demand became so great. Now he does things differently, and most of us respect that because we understand how impossible it would be to maintain lists on all his different threads. There are several other companies that operate the same way. Example is SCS. They build inventory and advertise a release date. Its then first come first serve.

Ehhhh... If Meso was in this to make money, he could be charging a hell of a lot more for his products and he'd still sell out in minutes. If I had to guess, he's selling these items at near cost. In speaking with him previously, the "profits" of one project go on to fund the next project. Take his turn signals for example... He was selling a "lesser" quality of them for a lot more than he's selling the improved version. If he was trying to make a buck off everyone, he would have kept the same price or even raised it.

I for one appreciate the process and understand why it is the way it is.

And yes, this is a public forum. Everyone can voice their opinion, but it's also open to people openly disagreeing with you... and voicing their opinion about your opinion.

Can everyone just stop posting in here until Meso posts "for sale" cuz that'd be great.

Do you get a little excited every time you see a notification from this thread? In the back of your mind you think "OH! Maybe that's Meso posting a release date!"

Does anyone who doesn’t like the way he does his process stop to think for a second. He does this as a hobby, it’s not his full time job. He has a life, if he made them for each order there would be no way to guarantee a prompt turn around without constantly working on them to get them out to orders. The way he does it allows him to make enough for a handful of people without being restricted to a “due date” forsay. Right now if life gets in the way he can put it off longer, he hasn’t accepted any money so he’s under no obligations to hurry up and finish. If he does orders and then makes it. It’ll be like the OV Mod forum where everyone’s constantly messaging everyday asking when their order will ship.

    This.
Trust me, I'd love to have 1000X of everything I make in stock ready to ship. But people need to realize I am not a full blown operation. This is a side hobby with a passion for making cool stuff, and offering it to the select members that get a chance to purchase. One of the main reasons I don't do preorders, lists, deposits, etc is I have no obligation or upset customers if the deadline/part is not met. Obviously I try and deliver as much as I can, but there are many variables at play...especially with this part. (At any given time I have 30+ projects going on.. not just Tacoma stuff on here). If and when the time comes I break out and do this full time, you betcha I'll have stuff ready to go. But until then you just have to be patient like everyone else.
    thanks for understanding:)

Meso whenever you’re ready to go into higher production I might be able to help out. I’m a former Plant Manager with a specialty in lean manufacturing. Just got my first Taco a few months ago so I’m newish to them but I know product development very well.

I'm really not a fan of the process either. I get that this is a side gig and they get completed when they get completed. What I don't understand is why he can't say "I'm making 100 of these. The first 100 people to send me an email get on a list". End of story. Making that list CAN NOT be that complicated or logistically difficult. If you bitch about it taking too long to get, guess what, you're off the list. Next. You still haven't paid anything and you get it when you get it. Simple. But the constant checking for weeks on end is really getting frustrating...

Yeah yeah, I know, then stop checking and shut up right? We all love Meso's mods and respect what he does, but it would be nice if there was a cleaner way to get them.

If people are too entitled to wait, here is a link of the guide the man made himself so you can tackle the mod yourselves. If you are not comfortable working with wires, I am pretty sure you can find someone locally to make one for you and service your needs at your convenience.

Making and managing a pre-order list is in fact TIME CONSUMING for a 1 man show! Time wasted just for your convenience...o_O

I think his process is fun. It's like the lottery. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you don't.

Its not about being to entitled to wait. It's more about knowing if your getting one or not. Nothing like waiting for months only to not make the cut by a couple minutes sucks. Alot of people aren't available at the time of sale. But anyway back to hitting F5 and waiting in the corner.

That’s the fun of it though, at least I think so. It was like that for his ultimate turn signals, I got lucky twice! :D

Some people are winners, and some people are losers. That’s what makes the world go around LOL

This whole argument about process reminds me of Louis CK's stand-up routine... (3:50 to 4:25 in particular)

    https://youtu.be/zbCoe3vIskA?t=3m50s

I'm not that old, but this generation needs to come to the realization that the world doesn't owe you anything. You're free to not like something (and voice that opinion), but this bitching and moaning attitude people have, comes off as ungrateful... You should probably consider what light that puts you in, before voicing those opinions.
