Is ice the reason for the lines? I never looked into it, just figured it was some idle air control or other reason

It's possibly too cold but I doubt it. With the stock intake manifold possibly because its plastic so it doesnt transfer heat well. Since we have that big ass piece of aluminum heat sink (sc) just engine and sc will transfer enough heat to the throttle body.

I didnt do it for performance as I dont think the air passing through the tb gets heated much, I did it for ease of tb testing. Much faster and less messy swapping tb's around without those pesky coolant lines.

 

Any time a fluid (air is considered a fluid) goes from high to low pressure you get a temperature drop. That's how air conditioning works and why the air coming out of your air compressor (when you spray buddy with it) is colder than ambient temp.

The opposite is true when we compress a fluid...why we need intercoolers!

 

Looks like I’m upgradeding my coolant pump.

I put it in my cart at Rockauto the other day to hold it.

I ordered brake pads and rotors last night. I just got the invoice. Apparently, I ordered the pump as well.

 

I've sooo done that!

 

No problems after 3 years of usage.

 

Mine have been looped for years. Now those ports are coolant lines for the turbo.

Is there any reason why the throttle body hoses shouldn’t be capped off vs looped?

 

Not that I can think of. Kinda like the heater core. It should go from pump side to return also.

 

Anybody run water/meth?

 

I just looped it. Not sure if these rubber caps I have are rated for coolant or if they’re just for vacuum.
