Seriously I'm just learning how to work on this thing.
I've got a 2005 v6 6 speed manual, largely stock save for a few stereo upgrades. I love this truck more and more every day. I got it for under 10k, and it needed some front end work (some of which I did myself, and some I paid for). I'm probably 12.5k into this truck, 176,000 on the ODO and I have a great feeling it'll run for 176 more.

On the down side, I'm not sure how well the previous owners maintained this thing because every bit of work I do involves insanely rusted bolts lol lol. Trying to get the fill plug off the rear diff today, I need a blowtorch.

No. I traded in a 2015 F150 to help a family member with cash. Leasing my '17 Taco at the moment. I really needed the most I could get for the F150 and Toyota gave it to me so I walked out with a DCSB '17 auto. It is a nice truck but the term utility comes to mind. Really no creature comforts for the cost. Smaller truck equals better gas mileage normally except in this case. The bed is just long enough to fit most anything I would carry in it but just short enough that with that stuff in the bed I cant close the tailgate.

Went into this knowing I would be in it 3 years and move to a full size truck again. I am counting the days. I dont hate the truck but it isnt for me.

    No.

I much preferred my 2nd Gen. The aesthetics and new tech of the 3rd Gen are great. But for me thats about where it ends. I actually liked the stock OR suspenion on my 2017 better than the OME I put on my 2008, but then I 'had' to lift my 3rd Gen and now the ride is just as undesirable as the the 2nd Gen.

If I could do it all over I would have not sold my old truck.

I would by it again without question.

I think an interesting survey would be to see if people that previously owned a truck (any truck, not just pre-3rd gen tacomas) correlates with a higher chance of people saying they wouldn't buy it again. This is the first pickup I've ever owned, so maybe I'm just naive what else is possible in the performance of a midsize pickup.

No I probably would not buy again but most likely for a different reason than others.

We needed a truck to haul things, a daily driver for my wife and also wanted to go off road. This truck seemed like a great compromise to get all of those things done and it really is but in the end I am unhappy with the compromise. Its comfortable but not that comfortable it lacks all the creature comforts some trucks have. It hauls stuff but would be nice if the bed was bigger. It does great off road but I never do what I want with it because its a brand new truck and I dont want to scratch or dent it.

If I could do it all over again I would buy a Ford certified last years F150 with like 4K miles for hauling and my wifes daily driver and then buy a 90's Jeep TJ to go off road. More expensive but no compromises. Say what you want about the F150 but it makes the Tacoma look like a kids toy and the Tacoma is not out wheeling a Rubicon TJ I dont care about the paint on lol

With all that said its my wifes truck and she absolutely loves it. She plans to keep it for 5-10 years. Im just going to buy a TJ for wheeling and we should both be happy.

I'm very happy with my Pro.

It's my first truck, coming from a history of sports cars ('93 RX-7, '94 Supra TT, '02 Corvette Z06) then a Highlander lol (for scuba diving) and now finally my '18 Pro.

I want it for overlanding mainly and I think it will suit my purpose nicely.

I've had mine for 46,000 miles. If I lost it today, I would buy another Tacoma no doubt. I might opt for a slightly different configuration if I could get it. OR and Long Bed would be the two changes..... but I'd want an OR only if I could get it without the extra packages. It's really about balance of price and what I'm getting for my money. I got not qualms with getting the exact same truck.

Even thinking a little more, I can't buy a SR5 configured the way mine is (no appearance package)... the current SR5 costs more.... that might push me to buy an OR instead.
