I rarely work on people's cars I know. I very rarely do requests.
I get screwed over and over again wanting free shit and they think I'm going to treat them special.
And then they don't like my answers.
Makes way to much stress in my life.

I figured. When I worked as a service writer I always told friends that we didn't have any openings for the same reason, and if they insisted on coming in I made sure I scheduled them on my day off.

Dam, I was hoping for the TW discount. Free oil change, 3 inch lift with new rims and treads.

Honestly, I am just happy with an honest mechanic and being respected. At my first service I gave a TW coin to the advisor in hopes that I would be remembered and my truck dealt with properly. I still paid for the oil change.

Since I have discovered that another SA has a kid at the school I work at, and told me to check in with him next time I'm there. Even still, my only expectation is to be treated fairly and not get raped.

Even though my name probably has a "this guy is a asshole" mark next to it from the sales folks, which I earned, I have always been happy with service dept.

Frankly, in my experience, being an asshole is the only way NOT to get raped by salespeople, unless you happen to get an employee discount from the dealer. If you're polite they just keep trying to push you around. Got to pick what you want to pay and stick with it, and not let them bullsh*t you about profit margins and whatnot. But whatever you do, be polite to the service people. I always make it a point to bring in a dozen donuts for the service department whenever I have work done on my truck. :notsure:

Never know when keeping them in a good mood might keep you from losing a wheel or something

Typically, the sales people and the service people do not mix much and certainly not to trade info about customers so I think you are safe. I didn't negotiate anything at the dealership. I did everything via email first then over the phone. Met the salesperson when I came to pick up the truck.

You should be treated fairly under any circumstance.
    The same with the techs.

I do the same thing but with Computers. Yeah, I'm in I.T. No, that doesn't mean I want to come over after work to clean the jizz off your keyboard. No, your hard drive didn't break because I uninstalled the twelve different free driver repair programs you installed.

I only work on immediate family's computers now. I don't accept cash, either. Food - sure.

I stopped messing with computers, cause I was always being asked by folks to come help fix their comps. It was a fun hobby that turned into an annoying chore.
