Toyota Care is just certified inspection.

I go in just to have them check off the routine maintenance. Like most people post on the forums they do things you and I can do. Unless you buy their premium maintenance.

I got my own mechanic for anything that might require some more elbow grease.

Pfft! It's TW. There will be a few more on the next page.:rofl:

There's a couple 'free' oil changes in there. My cheapass side can't resist that. Of course, that could lead to problems. . .

I've always done my own routine and most of the non-routine maintenance. With the Taco, I'm hoping for much less of the non-routine BS.

The Subby dealer made a killer deal on the premium maint on the Wife's Forester. It has been weird not touching it. That said, I have found all of their work to be top notch so far. It is a very new feeling for me and has the unintended consequence of actually liking a dealership. I will take over when that expires though.

Do these need to be modified to work? Saw a post stating there was a little modification that had to be done. Just making sure.

Sorry, but I do not know. I just had that hanging out in my Amazon Wishlist. It looks really similar to the nylon one that made it through my first oil change with no problem.

Could you link up that post?

It was a link from tacomaworld to a tundra forum right after the cartridge filters just came out. Looks like the tundra one does have to be modified, but I'm wondering if the Tacoma does as well?

Ah. I was looking at another metal housing that came with the perforated tubes. I think there are three different perforated tube lengths?

My best guess is that you won't know until you have them side by side. It looks like you can carefully swap them.

One other comment. That linked post is a bit rant-y. Like I said, our volvo with a high pressure turbo had no problems with the plastic cartridge. The first 40k were most likely done by a dealer for the PO.

Also, I'm not sure about that rounding off comment. The removal tools that I have seen and the one that I purchased have flutes to grab the flanges:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XF45NF

That is a much better engagement than a plain cartridge with flats on it.

Yea, I didn't think I needed these and even told myself I never go under the hood so why......well, since I've had the truck I've been under there at least a dozen times and not once has it been for a maintenance reason like an oil change or whatever. Mostly for LED light installs and adjustments. But then there is the washer fluid, grill plasti dip, etc etc etc. LOL

I'm definitely getting some. I'm short and plan on lifting the truck later on. They will come in handy.

Was barely able to get the truck back in Toyota spec after the OME lift, but the front still showed inward camber, and without that extra caster, it just didn’t drive nice. Lots of wondering and such. Added SPC UCAs and the EGSC bushing two weekends ago (had no vibration but was in the wheel well and figured, might as well) and got it aligned at a 4x4 shop (4WheelParts) and man, what a difference. Truck drives excellent!! What a difference the UCAs made.

    That's awesome! No trimming required?

Nope, no trimming. In the instructions it mentions you may have to trim the plastic things that are behind the grill and in front of the radiator if your winch control box is mounted on top of the winch and sits up high and to the left or right. I have the control box centered on top of the winch so it was no where near the plastic.

That's awesome I've been looking for a bumper and winch set up that does require any trimming. I cringe just thinking about trimming a new truck. Do you happen to have any pictures of the installation process?

    I think I'm in! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

AND nobody dissed my PBR's? Surprised! I love 'em! Not because they're cheap but because I love 'em!! Got hooked on an overnight rafting trip down the Colorado 14 years ago. Been drinking 'em ever since.
Everyone disses PBR's........., 'cept me and all the broke di_k locals in NW Co.
Never been much for following the crowd.
