    Hi there
    having an issue with the taco 06'. it had a new frame with the previous owner through toyota.
    I bought it and immediately the starter went so, im afraid she sat for 4 months over winter and i had to take her to the shop.
    to get her to the shop i had to get her out of gear, but she wont start, so I used the gear release button to get her out of gear as the battery was dead ( little button to the L_H of shifter on the panel}
    towed it to the shop a few blocks away by a towtruck (taco was hoist up by back wheels and towed on its front wheels, back wards)
    shop calls and says the tramsission is knackered.
    The issu is the shifter only lines up with the dash now and again, when she is in park she sometimes rolls away, she stalls as its put in nuetral.
    she changes gears when she drives , its the actual lever and allignment is F'd and the stalling issuesoon as ya slip into nuetral
    Any ideas folks?

    Check the shifter cable really good. If it slipped off it's mounting brackets it will be sloppy (like a shifter cable on a bicycle). Remove the range sensor and manually move the shift lever (that goes into the trans) through all it's positions. It could be broken off in the trans.

    If its rolling in park, that is an adjustment or mechanical issue, not a range sensor issue. The sensor doesn't move the parking pawl into position. That is the job of the cable linkage and shift selector rod in the trans
