I was wondering that too, but doesn't Ford also offer a NA 3.5 V6? Guess we'll find out soon enough. :fingerscrossed: for 5.0 Coyote!

Congrats OP, I have a few friends with new F150s. Really nice trucks for sure.

To the person posting about Ford transmission recall, at least their doing something about it......... We'll see how many Taco owners end up paying for howling rear ends. Hopefully none since you know, its a feature of a new truck lol

I just went the EXACT opposite:) Traded in my LOW mile '17 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost (w/ 10 speed trans) for my '18 Tacoma DCSB Auto. I truly liked the Ford alot but it was a massive payment and getting around high density metro areas for work(Denver/Boulder)in the full size truck was killing me. So I got a smaller truck and smaller payment so I'm very happy so far.

There's a TSB out for the diff whine, apparently it's a NVH issue rather than a "real" mechanical problem that would leave you stranded.

Toyota replaced the leaf springs in my 13 year old 2nd gen and would have replaced the frame had it needed it. To insinuate they won't do the right thing is to ignore anything they've done in the past. Toyota takes care of their customers, period.

I could care less what they have or havent done in the past. I care about what they will or wont do for me. Ford dealership has been great in the past to me so now we'll see how Toyota does. I listen to the rear end in my brand new truck howl away every day on the long slight down hill leaving for work every morning........then on the freeway the whole way while maintaining 55mph

Since your whole post is predicated on what Toyota will or won't do, what have you done about it?

Have you tried the TSB yet? Your model is covered. Lucky you get a TSB to help/fix the howl. My dealer won’t touch mine since it’s a 2018 SR5. Already started purchasing the TSB parts haha

17K miles on the truck and its been to the dealer several times, mentioned every time. I will bring up the TSB next time it goes in but im guessing if they do anything, they will replace the entire thing with another improperly setup rear end like others have gotten in the past.

I will complain all I want till its fixed, I dont care if you like it or not.

That's not what's in the TSB though.... they will NOT replace the whole axle or even the third member. IIRC it's the springs and/or rear cab mounts and sound deadening pad in the rear of the cab somewhere (depends on model). The sound is being transferred through the springs to the frame. Yeah, the axle maybe shouldn't do it, but by all accounts it not a setup issue if you look at the fix.

That's interesting I will search to see if there is a current thread about that on here. Truck going into dealer in the next week or two for a different issue, will bring it up with them again.

Honestly, I’m still waiting on parts for my Tacoma, for the howling sound from the rear end. It’s been 2 months now.... still they took it into consideration and it’s being taken care of..... when I don’t know....

At the end of the day, it’s already known, it doesn’t affect the gears because of the whining, and I’m not worried about it. Don’t worry about the little things. Just drive the truck and enjoy where it takes you.

Lets be fair here, what he did was pay $35K+ for a brand new truck lol. I wouldn't blame him for being pissed having to fix issue on a new vehicle, especially if you bought a new vehicle because you didn't want to have risk issues with a used one. That being said my rear end howls but i don't mind because i really only notice it when i have the radio off.
