I'm running the first two types of bulbs and I'm happy. I don't know anything about the third.

Ok, so I adjusted the headlights and fogs. They are borderline too high but the only time I got flashed on my way into town and back was going through a roundabout and the roadway angles for me and the other vehicle made them too high. It's a rare instance but it bugged me. However, there were many other instances where I was cresting a hill and my lights were definitely high and no one complained. People up here are quick to let you know you're highbeams are on! So I'm on the fence and will try a couple more times at night to be sure.

    Here are some new pics.

    Before adjusting:

    Low beams, fogs and DRL

    20180331_211150.jpg

    After adjusting:

    20180407_205424.jpg

You can see the base of the trees farther up the lane. Also, there is more illumination of the trees on the sides farther away as well.

Here is the lows and highs, and DRL:

    Before adjusting

    After adjusting

    20180407_205435.jpg

Besides the obvious amount of illumination directly around the front of the truck, look at how much more illumination there is farther down lane where more light is critical in deer country.

    Now the Fogs.

Definitely an improvement in throw! This is how they should be!

All those shots were taken with the camera from the drivers point of view, right in front of my face to show that there's no loss of light on the road in my view.

So to me, I feel adjusting both higher is a definite improvement and the results are very favorable.

So while I was in town I wanted to see what the lights would look like to oncoming cars. I walked at least 10 car lengths away and shot these and moved increasingly closer

    20180407_203648.jpg

    20180407_201843.jpg

I honestly don't think it's offensive. I was crouching too so I was in the sweet spot.

Here are some shots from my point of view again but with traffic involved to show that after the adjustment they are not offensive.

    20180407_202709.jpg

    20180407_203540.jpg

    20180407_203552.jpg

I also paid attention to the cutoff height on crossing traffic at intersections and it's just below the bottom of the door windows of most sedans. No matter what, Miata type cars will be affected. Anything larger than a sedan, like a Rav or up is no issue at all. The same goes for oncoming traffic. Corvettes will be affected, Crown Vic's not at all. This is truck country anyway so..........

I'm completely satisfied and feel my safety has increased great when it comes to seeing deer on the sides of roads.

Here's the view of the field here that's cut off by the camera

    Adjusting the fogs really helped!

    I'm happy!

Hey guys is it ok if i ask for recommendations on what I should get for interior lights for my 12 Tacoma? I have an led in the dome light, so I guess I just need something for the map lights. But don't want them to be off colored. So if needed I'll get map and dome lights. I have also been talking to a guy about for LEDs in my headlights and fog's. Then he has some hell of bright reverse lights.
Here is the reverse lights. I need bright reverse lights. But don't want to do any pods at the moment.

I know it's a different for 3rd gens. But a lot of people around here are running lights from this guy and I didn't know if anyone else has.

I recently traded in my 15’ tacoma and I kept all the led lights I put in. I also have CSJumper’s Led headlight kit if you want that as well. The headlights are awesome, but unfortunately they don’t fit on my 18’ so i’m looking to sell it. If you want to buy the headlight kit from me, i’ll throw in all the led lights for the interior as well. PM me if you’re interested!

WOW! Great pictures detailing the benifits of adjusting the headlights & fogs while still keeping them "streetable" for other drivers. 2 thumbs up!!

It's funny how I didn't think much of how low my headlights were when I had the dimmer OEM bulbs in there, but once I switched to the HID (and now the new Hikari LEDs), it was painfully obvious. I guess it's because the overally light throw is better, so we can see the beam pattern that much further.

I'm still not sure if mine was abnormally low or if Toyota tends to play it safe and no one else really notices it with the stock bulbs...

Thanks, I'm just trying to keep this a great thread.

But you're right, even I didn't think they were "wrong", I just knew I wanted more. Like I said, I am very spoiled with my Lexus dual led projectors. I get flashed a lot with those but they are factory so tough.

It became very obvious when I reviewed the photographs. You can see in the last two pics, the shots of the roadway, the Hot Spot was much closer to the truck. To me that is a waste, especially up near me. I need to see those deer as soon as possible. Now that the hot spot is farther up the road where it should be, yet still on the road, the roadway itself is more illuminated and the light patter is more evenly distributed.

There's an easier way to adjust these lights too. if you look at the back of the light assembly from the top down, you'll notice a channel (It's circled in yellow on this pic). It is wider at the top and it goes right down to over top of the knob. The knob has teeth. These headlights are no different than any other I am use to. You stick a long thin flat head screwdriver down that channel and grabbing a tooth at a time, turn. This will turn the knob. This is crucial on the passenger side because there is a lot of stuff there in the way.

    You can see it here:

This made my life so much easier

Here is my quick video comparing the stock front turn signals to LED turn signals.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjDE421hnpI

    Link to the bulb: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PHVUWR8

I talked about a minor issue I saw with these bulbs and this is what it was.

So these bulbs should not require load resistors for the 2017 Tacoma. Now that is somewhat true as these tend to work just fine about 85 to 90 percent of the time. My issue is with the driver side signal. It will occasionally go into a hyper flash and I think I have figured out what causes this. It only does this when it has been sitting in direct sunlight for a period of time or when the blinker is on for a long period of time. My theory is that the bulb heats up slightly and that causes the hyper flash. Although it doesn't do it on the passenger side so it could just be a somewhat faulty bulb. Other than the occasional hyper flash, these bulbs are great.

Stepping up your game with videos now Son! Noice!

Strange the drivers side is affected and not the passengers side. I seem to remember people saying they had problems with the passengers side after doing the LED swap in the tails.

I have to admit, these are bright AF! I'll be watching closely to see what happens and if you get this figured out. Definitely interested in this change! Me likey!

From what I read, the fronts don't need resistors, but when you decide to change our your rear turn signals, that's when you'll need resistors. I just changed my fronts recently, and planning to do my rears, but with resistors. I'll keep an eye on it a few times to see if it has any issues.

random - but can anyone confirm what color the normal DRLs / Rigid Fogs that come on the Pro? Are they 5000k? Trying to make sure I buy LEDs that match.

The DRL in the 2017 are at least 6500k or more. They are very bright with even a slight hint of blue. At least mine are. I know the 16 Tacoma DRL isn’t quite as bright as the 17 or 18 models though. 16 model may be down in the 5500k.

The Hikari Phillips, AuxBeam F-16, and Hikari Cree bulbs are all very close if not the same as DRL color output for the 17+ models.

    Hikari Phillips LED: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BT6M6Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Jh1ZAb2516PS6

    HIKARI LED CREE: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCE1AY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pi1ZAb5KE13C1

    Auxbeam LED F-16: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KYZU604/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nj1ZAbTF5752W

I can’t speak on the ridgid Pro fogs though since I haven’t seen them in person.
