Well, idk about the others but.. I am getting mine done through the applicator at Toyota in Alhambra. I am paying the dealer directly. I’m sure with the warranty card they are offering me and the receipt... they should be good for it?

Does that price include paint correction? And which package is that? How long did they say they would need your car? I’m in your area and went through Aerowerkz. They did an awesome job on my truck about two months ago

The auto detailer shop that did mine told me with proper care and maintenance of this ceramic coating my 2 yr could last up to 4 years

I was told to come by there shop periodically and they would inspect the coating and use the reload if needed

Mines is cement and I’m located in the 91748 area. Tbh I’d look into getting it done at a shop that is known for detail work. The 2-step paint correction before application is what determines how well the final product looks. All swirls and imperfections will be locked in. A decent job should require the shop to hold onto your car for a few days at least, those that don’t are rushing the curing process. I did mines for $1100 for the silver package (5 years) which includes all the prep washing/claying and the 2-step paint correction but it was only done on the painted surfaces. No glass or plastics.

I had ceramic pro done almost a year ago on my 16. Paint correction and all, 4 coats and lifetime warranty. It was $1,000, but it's amazing. Makes washing so much easier.

Damn, location plays such a big part in the pricing as well. Over here in the LA/OC area the cheapest I could get the lifetime gold package pricing was $1650

I am firm believer in ceramic coatings, actually did my last 2 cars myself. I am just waiting to do my Taco as soon as I have time. I used to detail for a living so when I see people paying $900+ to have this done I am losing my shit. seriously?! unless your trucks are in really really poor shape, they are gouging you badly. I get the whole "warranty" aspect of it and all that, but come on guys. if you take care of your trucks it will be a long time before you need warranty work done.

I did 2 cars myself with the same $90 kit, and still have enough to do at least one more vehicle (either my Taco or the wife's Lexus). with that said, neither of my cars needed much paint correction. I keep my vehicles pretty clean on a weekly basis, so scratches and swirls aren't an issue for me. I had about 6 hours each in my 2. and that was me taking my time. i figure my Taco or my wife's car won't even take me that long, because they are almost perfect now paint wise. this is definitely something a competent person who knows how to do some detailing can do themselves and save a ridiculous amount of money. the most I have ever heard of anybody in our area paying is $500. and even that is insane in my opinion. if you need a couple stages of buffing to correct the paint, then maybe. but otherwise, no way.

I'd rather have a detailing shop do mine so if they damage my truck I can go after them for damages

I was considering doing it myself as well, but I don’t have the time, energy, or garage space to do it unfortunately. How many coats did you apply on your previous cars? Because with multiple coats, you have to allow each coat to cure before the next coat, unless I’m mistaken.

I looked at Ceramic Pro, but was turned off by their requirement for annual “refreshment” and by the varying “life” of their different packages. To me, they were marketing ploys to make more money.

A professional ceramic coating can only be removed through mechanical means (abrasion)...it doesn’t wear off like sealants and waxes. Therefore, there’s no “refreshing” required.

I had our Mini Cooper and Porsche Macan coated with Opti-Coat Pro Plus. Ran about $1,200 per vehicle for paint, trim, and wheels. Didn’t do the glass. No requirement for annual updates. I believe it has a 7 year warranty.

Haven’t done the Taco...not in the budget right now.

I did one very even coat on each car. I let each car cure for a weekend before even moving them out of the garage. I really don't see a need for multiple coats. one coat if applied properly is sufficient. considering one coat completely seals the paint, another coat would only seal the original coat. thus offering no different results.

True, Id imagine with regular washing and normal wear & tear the first layer will eventually fade off thus the need for multiple layers. Alot of factors can come into play with how long itll actually last so one could last a while if kept in ideal conditions.

the coating I used has a 3-5 year life span. which I will trade before it ever wears off anyway. some coatings last 1-2 years. but even with those, they are still worth the money. it makes washing the vehicle so much easier. road grime and bugs don't stick to it like an uncoated car. I am definitely glad I did mine. I just wished this stuff would have been around when I was in the detailing game. I could have made a lot more money, lol.

Depends on the product used, some coatings add durability using multiple layers, others are designed as a single layer product.

A proper shop isn't going to apply a ceramic coating without doing some sort of paint decontamination , both chemical and physical, and paint correction. That is where the bulk of the cost is when paying a shop to do it. I won't touch a car coating for a client for anything under $1000.

A full coverage Paint protection film is going to be closer to 5-6k, if someone quotes you $2300, it's either cheap ass film and/or inexperienced installer.

Professional grade coating look at Cquartz pro/reserve, Opti-pro, Kamakazi, Gyeon mohs+

    Oahu, Hi
Where do you live? $500 is super cheap. There is alot of work that goes into the prep alone before the ceramic coating is applied. Even brand spanking new vehicles I have seen swirls on them. When you have to:

    Wash
    Remove fallout/ ironx
    Clay
    Compound/ polish
    Final wipe
Make sure paint is completely corrected and cleansed from oils from polish and compounds.
    Then Coat.

Some vehicles take 10+ hours to do alone. No way I would do all that for $500.

Also most reputable shops will be using the Pro versions of the ceramic coatings not the consumer version.

But I do agree with you that doing it yourself you can save alot of money if you have the tools already. I also been detailing for awhile and will probably be doing Cquartz original to my tacoma when I get it.

Seems reasonable. The paint correct alone was probably nearly half that.

Ceramic pro is on the upper end of coatings. I still think modesta is top dog though.
