Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
I’m turning out to be the “Tough Shit” dept.

That’s a push week leading up to the 4th of July. I’m just gonna shoot down there after work Saturday.

Work gets in the way of everything.

Not so fast....It wouldn't have mattered if I put in for the 3rd weekend 10 years ahead of time....We have a major event that weekend and I have to be at work. Not all of us have menial jobs where we can just come and go as we please. Not your fault I have to work certain weekends during the summer. Never blamed that on anyone else. ...Not anything I expect anyone else to have to deal with. If I had a job where I could be missing whenever I felt the urge...It would be a different story.

I picked my dates for Harlan..... 3 years running that was decided from the opening post....more than 6 months ahead of time. ....Wasn't an issue....for me or for anyone who couldn't attend. I picked the dates far in advance and didn't waffle about for the next 2 months before making a firm decision.

I'm sure you won't miss me on the 3rd weekend....But apparently it triggered 3 of you in particular when I decided to do something else simply because I cannot go the weekend you picked.

So....I'm good with you all picking your date and doing what you want. Go...Have fun...I have no animosity towards anyone. But.....Why is it that a few of you want to make a major issues out of the fact I'm going WHEN I CAN as opposed to when I CAN'T go....(Already going with several drivers going on the 1st weekend who by the way aren't scared out their wits by a simple, easy climb up a hill that may or may not be on the agenda in the first place)

BTW...When we climbed that hill, we had a bone stock, brand new Jeep Wrangler with 31" street tread tires and NO lift with us. We had to show him how to put it in 4wheel lo he had so little experience. And he drove up the hill with hardly any effort. Only thing we did different was take THE CORRECT LINE for a 4wd as opposed to the SxS/4wheeler/dirt bike line. If this puts it in better perspective for you, there is a well worn trail up to those rocks. The worn trail continues between the rocks. It follow's on up to the gravel road in the same well worn manner. How do you suppose that trail exist's if it's impossible to get up/down the hill? It's there because the majority of people who get to that point don't turn around and run from it.

I have...1st weekend of June. Only shot I have at it in June. We're camping along the trail, staying out of camp grounds. Everyone else is welcome, but we are probably not going on a "stock friendly route".

Did you excel in English class? My response doesn't plan to be nearly as windy :D

I get it. And I'm fine with it. You can't come to the "meet".
I'd like you to be there so you can show us how easy things are. I'm not intimidated by the rocks, I'll try em til I fail. I'm worried about other folks who are stock smashing their rockers.
Jeeps are shorter than a Tacoma and therefore less chance of smashing the rocker climbing over and obstacle. In some cases, not all.
No one got that bent out of shape because you can't come. You perceive it that way, though. We all give each other shit and tease.

You done directing shit at me now?

I'm just trying to be helpful and not let the stock folks (read as: don't have sliders/skid) who will be with us, smash their rocker like I have.

Eats at me that I'm still paying for it and have that kind of dent in there already.

You don't need to apologize for this- I just rewatched that video and even half the things with 35s that went up it were on sliders/frame. And the stock JK just straight up high-centered. So, quite frankly, I'm calling bullshit on this being 'easy' for stock Tacomas. It's easy enough for us to just take people there and let them make their own decision- people that want to do it can go up it, turn around at the top of the trail, and come back down, while the stockers hang out by the lake.

Also I'd like to formally apologize to anyone I've offended by being a smartass. I shouldn't assume that everyone has the same tolerance for getting shit that I do.

There you go again...Influencing peoples opinion by rewording what was said/written in order to create a problem where there is none. May not be your goal, but it is the end result.... . NO WHERE did I say "easy for stock Tacoma's". No where. In fact, I said something to the effect of wouldn't try it with a stock front tupperwear bumper. It IS however, easy enough to get up and down. The group I went with had ZERO trucks with 35's....2 had 31"'s. The rest on 33"'s. And we made it EASILY. That usually has more to do with who's holding the steering wheel than what size tires you're packing. I went up twice. Had one small scuff mark on one slider. No damage. If you take the time to look, my truck sits LOWER than quite a few of you. (1-1/2" lift in back 1-3/4" in front now that the bumper/winch/skids are there) Mine didn't drag....

Beyond that, I agree....Take em to the hill, let those who wish climb it, those who don't want to try don't need to or have to.

Jesus, will you all get off this rock already.

If you can't make the meet I apologize, there's always next year, or you can go whatever day you'd like.. It's not my land and is a free country.
The date was decided for those numbers who could all make it happen, not to include or not include anyone. I make the meet so we all can get out, do the things we love, and include everyone no matter what skill set. If you can't do something, feel free to go another path or wait/ride with someone else.

    Hope to see everyone out!

Before you spend an inordinate amount of time making excuses why a Jeep can do this but a Tacoma can't, realize I'm in a Tacoma....I went first when we went up the hill....and I had no problems. Did no damage...There was no "smashing into rocks". Do you see dents and scratches all over my truck?

Show me where I said anyone was bent out of shape because I can't be there....Never "perceived" that or even thought that myself. You MAY get a few people to buy into that bit of deceptive commentary, but that's not the issue at all... And as far as the possibility I'm bent out of shape....Sorry....But this isn't important enough for me to get upset. I just planned another run with people who could go when I could go. At that point, a couple of your buddies decided I'd blown off the group because they weren't doing what I wanted.

It was you who said, in your infinite wisdom, that "anyone with 4 to 6 weeks can get the time off if they want it". Just not so....regardless of how YOU perceive that issue. Some of us have jobs that require us to be on site during specific events. Wish I could go BOTH weekends. Can't happen.

    :notsure:

Beyond this, you've repeatedly said in this thread that 'we've done far more difficult stuff in stock trucks.', and this is about the 20th time you've beat your chest about how easy this rock is. I'm basing everything I'm saying about it off the video that you shared of some pretty damn built rigs dragging sliders and rockers going over that rock. I don't know why being cautious about damaging other peoples trucks is so offensive to you.

Anyway I'm over this shit, it's clear you're in some kind of mood today and are taking every little thing as a personal attack. Go to the package store on base, get you a little brown bag, and fucking relax.
