Inside passage ferry is the way to go. It goes places the cruise ships can't go.

Sounds like dash cams are about to become really popular. Is that law for FoCo, or Denver as well?

There is a very simple solution to all this, have the cyclists pay for their OWN paths. And stay off the street that motorists had to pay for. Easy peasy. Fort Collins already has a fairly extensive path system that keeps the smarter ones off the streets.

Who am I kidding, Fort Collins has a huge bicycle problem. They are like vermin on the streets, holding up traffic and ultimately causing more pollution.
I ride too, But I try not to be a dickhead about it and fuck with traffic just because I think I have more rights. I'm usually kind of buzzed too, so safety pays off...:D

Bicycles have been allowed to run red lights for a long time. We only legally have to treat a red light as a stop sign if there's no vehicle traffic. It's because we won't trip the weight or magnetic sensors that cause them to turn green.

BTW, I don't support changing the traffic laws to allow cyclists to run stops. I think we should follow rules that keep everyone safer. The problem is IMHO that cyclists who cut traffic and ignore traffic controls are confusing car drivers who never know what they're gonna do.

Now in complete disclosure one thing I do is filter to the front on my bike rather than sit in a line of cars at a stop. I've been squeezed by an inattentive driver who only saw the car bumper in front of him was going to run into my back wheel. So I roll up the right side to the white line to be in front. Otherwise I try to brake, sign turns, etc. as much as I can.

Little known fact, you do actual pay for roads as a cyclist. At least technically. You're supposed to have an operator's license to use any vehicle on a road and you can (and I have) get points on your license for violating traffic laws. You can also get a DUI for riding drunk. You don't pay gasoline taxes of course but CDOT funding is only about 50% based on gasoline. The other half is general revenue (income taxes) and other mechanisms that everyone pays. So since a bicycle also only does about 5% of the wear and damage to the roads that a car does it could be said a cyclist is paying plenty of his fair share.

One bike in the street is usually not too bad if that person has their shit together,

but you get a group of those spandex clad militant assholes that hold up traffic while they ride 3-4 across and fire off dirty looks when we try to pass them and hold out their skinny little arms like they gonna push a 4000 pound car away...
    fuck them.

Everyone there has technically paid for roadways via property tax, income tax, sales tax, etc. I’m definitely not saying I’m supporting that legislation as I’m not a fan of bikers. They really have no place on normal roadways with moderate/heavy traffic.

Well I’ll be damned. I’d say you can’t fix stupid, but it sounds like cyclists are fighting for a law that in my opinion will make the roads more dangerous for them so it may just sort itself out.

As someone who cycled almost exclusively for about 6 years, only driving a car on rare occasions, I would vote this bill down. Cars already don’t pay enough attention to bikes and motorcycles. Now the ones that do pay attention won’t know what a cyclist will (or is supposed to) do at an intersection.
