Is it $50 more for annex AND $50 more for the awning, plus another $100 shipping? Or just $50 + ~$100.

Basically, what is the ballpark total cost for tan square 2.5 meter with annex shipped to GA? :)

It'll be $50 more for each piece. The awning's shipping will be roughly $100 more on the larger size. The annex won't be much different shipping- wise than the standard size.
Larger size awning would be $390, annex would be $390. Shipping the larger awning (depending on location) will be anywhere from $140 to $200. The annex will be around $40 (depending on location). So both items shipped (larger size/square) will be around $1k.

Please keep in mind, the larger awning at 2.5 meters is very large. Plan your mounting positions accordingly.

My wife's going to be mad. Let's go big.

Sorry for changing my order a billion times. Finalizing (hopefully this time):
    Annex and awning.
    Driver side.
    Square.
    Tan.
    2.5 meter.

    @synaps3

Simply because I’m curious. You planning on putting it on the cab and camper shell?

Always wondered how that works when the truck flexes. Wouldn’t it try to twist the awning?
I mean the 2m one is already huge. The 2.5’s LONG. It would easily overhang the windshield and rear hatch on my 80.

    6' vs 7.5'
Only a foot and a half difference, but it makes a "yuge" difference.

I ordered an ARE MX with walk-in. The MX roof is a lot higher than the cab, making this a non-issue. It'll mount on the MX and not both, sticking out the front and back a bit.

Damn thing cost a small fortune, which is part of why I'd rather just spend the $~1k shipped instead of the $~700 on the smaller awning to make sure I get it right the first time and am not vying for more space later. My wife is concerned about shade, privacy, and containment for our young kids, so getting a stupid-expensive topper and spending a lot on an awning will get the family camping with me again.

Shit was so simple and cheap when it was just me and the dog, now just the logistics of going to the grocery store take longer than it used to take me to get ready for a weekend trip with the pupper.

Here's an ARE MX with walk-in for reference:

    2016-Tacoma-ARE-MX-Walk-In-Full-Door.jpg

I won't have a cargo box on mine, instead opting for a Bajarack.

It actually really does! Geek warning, math incoming... :der:

Let's assume shipped the normal awning + annex + shipping for the 6' one is $340+$340+150 = $830
Let's assume shipped the big awning + annex + shipping for the 7.5' one is $390+390+200 = $980

Easy. Now we have the square awning, so we have in both configurations a square and 3 equilateral triangles.

That means the usable area in the awning = (N^2)+3((SQRT(3)/4)*(N^2)), where N is the unit length. Let's stick to feet and use 6 and 7.5.

(6^2)+3((SQRT(3)/4)*(6^2)) solves to 74.4ft^2 of usable space in the normal awning.
(7.5^2)+3((SQRT(3)/4)*(7.5^2)) solves to 112.4ft^2 of usable space in the big awning.

That's actually a big difference, especially when you consider the cost per ft^2.

The cost per ft^2 is simply the cost divided by usable area... So,

The cost per square foot of the normal awning ($830/74.4) is $11.16.
The cost per square foot of the big awning ($980/112.4) is $8.72.

In other words, you get roughly 20% more value per unit for going big. You also get 50% more usable space for the kids to play around in or you and your friends to drink under. It's great math, use it to justify your upgrade, telling your wife you're being extra responsible by spending more. :spending:

    Couldn't have said it better.
@synaps3 PM me your full address and I'll get a quote that'll be more accurate. It won't be perfect (I don't know the actual dimensions), but I have a similar one from the last GB that I can use to quote. This way well have closer figures so we can do more math.

Very understandable. I guess the question now will be don’t you think that it’ll vibrate a bit sticking so far un supported?
    Regardless. Clean build.

If he has a cab and roof rack, it should work out without sticking out too much. Maybe a third mounting point as well versus the two on the shorter awning. That should stabilize it well.

Edit: Just realized you're only going to mount it on the cab rack. How long is the cab rack going to be? @synaps3

Also consider that 20% larger area when the wind picks up a bit. Don't know the mathematical equations lift created by the bigger wing deployed etc. but something to consider as well.

Cab rack is a MegaMule, so 64" (5'4") long. I may have to fabricate a support brace, that's TBD. I won't know until I get it up there.

This is a really good point. I wouldn't even consider using an awning like this at the beach or similar, it's just asking for trouble.

    @SoCalTacos
Please switch me to Square awning, driver side in Gray. Annex for it is still pending.

Is the shorter square awning has he same length when packed just like the triangle version one?

Yes, it should be the same length when packed up.
I changed it to square and left the annex as well. Just keep me posted on the annex.
    Thanks!

For the guys wanting the Sand (tan) color awning...I don't think they do the annex in sand. I believe they match it with a green. At least, for the standard awning that's what they do. I will confirm this with the manufacturer and update, but keep this in mind when requesting a sand awning and annex.

Please confirm with them. I'd rather have both in tan.

If they can't do both in tan, I'd want to change my order to have it be grey. That should be updated in the OP.

I’m alright with tan or green for the original passenger one on the annex color.

Also need to add another to the order

for a Driver Side 2m awning. Tan square with no annex
