Long-bed vs Short-bed

Probably to reduce vandalism to vehicles that make them money. Kind of on a different level than the average Joe that just uses his pretty truck to "go places".

I lost my "man card" at some point in my mid 20's, and as a man I said... "so what?" Then proceeded to just make myself a new one, who's gunna know, right?

 

If your truck is inside your garage then you can look at it when Ya get a beer outta the fridge...and I don't even have this "man card" you speak of.

 

I'd love to have a garage I can put my truck in. I'd buy a cot and sleep beside it.

That's my concern too. Hell theyre already cutting them from the 3rd gen.

275 lbft of torque at 3200 RPM. Our V6 has 265 at 4600. Damn, I bet that'd be sweeeeet!

 

Short bed for me. Just about anything I put back there I’m strapping down anyway, so tailgate up / tailgate down doesn’t really matter.

 

Went DCSB because of our parking sitch and living in the city, but if I could do it over, would go DCLB. More and more trails seem to be getting big enough for a full size rig anyways (for better or for worse) and that extra space to sleep in the back without having head/feet hanging off the lowered tailgate would be suhweet.

 

That's a slippery slope for me. If I were to look at a LB, I'd have a real hard time just not going with a full size. How deep and wide the bed is, it would increase the utility factor 2 to 3 times (plus the bed is slightly longer as well). And overall length wouldn't be much longer comparing the two. Tacoma would still drive smaller, but it wouldn't be that much of a gap between the two. So I vote SB Tacoma, or jump to a full size.

As far as you pinky dink dorks, talking about man card this and that, please get over your insecurities. I've had bullet bikes, dirt bikes, etc. I still love riding my Vespa.

 

I'm not really buying into this. I'm coming from full-sized HD trucks to a Tacoma LB because my needs have changed. The LB gives me plenty of options for hauling and more stability when towing than an SB Taco. Why would I jump to a full-size truck and lose all the cool features the OR Taco has to offer? Id buy into this theory if similar MPG and off road is not what you care about. Those are your deciding factors, imo. I'm glad I found my LB. It really fills the gap between a Taco SB and a full-sized truck for me. In 2020 when the HD's get refreshed and if we want to get a bigger camper I will go back to a HD.

 

If it works for you, I'm glad. I came from a full size. Testing a LB, I felt the difference was more subtle than a SB. Mainly from parking in the garage where I've got not a ton of room to work with.

By the way, full size trucks have all the OR gizmo's that Tacoma's have. Even better, get a Powerwagon. That's a honkin beast, though.

 

Power Wagon is a beast. But even a Taco LB can go more places than a full-sized and thats the difference.

 

I considered that. But how many trails would that account for? % wise, that'd be maybe 1%? I'm speaking in terms of places I personally would take either vehicle. I live in Utah and regularly visit many of the off-road, backcountry areas around. I can think of places where a fullsize trucks don't belong. But then again, I probably wouldn't take a Tacoma LB there, either. Maybe even a SB! The PW is pretty impressive, though. Even in stock trim, I think it's got a big advantage over the Tacoma (as long as it can fit on the trail).
