I am for the law personally, I am a mexican-american (born in Austin, Tx) and I have no worries with someone asking me for proof of my legality. What I want is for my family to be safe and if I lived in an area that had rampant crime due to the illegals then I would be pretty pissed as well.

I do not want to pay for someone's costs to live here if they are here illegally. It is hard enough for me to fend for my family and to be fending for someone else is bullshit. I know it could be a pain in the ass if things get out of hand when it comes to the asking of legal status but it may not be bad at all. Of course I may not have as hard of a time as some of the more darker skinned folks (I am as white as some white folks) I really do feel it is for the best.

The illegals do not care if I am mexican-american or not, they will harm me if it means their own selfish wants and needs are interfered with. I have heard that people born here of mexican decent are not liked over in Mexico anyway. The only thing that will change things for me is if I get messed with by some freaking racist just putting me in the same lot for hate reasons. I will defend my self and family by any means necessary.

I know that not all of them are bad but they are here illegally, my grandfather took the legal route and became a citizen. That is how it should be done.

    Ernie,
I respect the fact that you have a right to speak your opinions and political views. However, you made the above mentioned statement and have mentioned in past statements about how you get upset that people make foolish statements. I am guessing that you're saying people often make foolish statements with out first doing a little research.

Did you ever serve in the Military? There are alot of great men and women in the armed services that don't like the idea of going to war, but do so, because that's what they VOLUNTEERED (enlisted) to do. It's a sense of Duty and Selfless sacrifice. I'm sorry that you feel the military brain washes citizens into thinking war is the answer. It's a necessary evil IMO of course. I can not speak for others out there.

Please think a little more carefully before submitting such an opinionated statement ("...stay in the military and continued to be brainwashed...")

Very well said. My mom came here legally from Japan and she agrees with this Law. She carries her cards with her everywhere.

You said it a lot nicer than I would have.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Bump because I like stirring the pot and this is an interesting thread. Especially now that something like 9 other states are proposing similar legislation in the coming year. have any of you guys heard about the mexican military escorting drug runners into soveriegn US territory? I was reading up on that this evening and all I can say is, enough is enough.

I know Missouri and south Carolina are hot for it. I wish Kansas would, but too many illegals work in the cattle operations out west.

Don't quote me on this, but hasn't S.C. seceded from the union or declared states sovereignty more times than anyones else?
