Nice thing with dip is it's easy to redo. You can try touch up and if doesn't look good remove and redo it.

Don't redo the whole thing. First, you need to check the spots to see if there are any peels lifting around. If not, you can re-spray it over the spots. If there are peels lifting around the spots, then you'll need to liquify the plastidip again and smooth it out before re-spraying. Here's a great video on what to do in these situations.

Thank you very much for posting this! I plan to do the exact same thing to my Cement sport. I think the fender flares and front "chin" piece are just TOO MUCH cement. I realized after I bought my truck in Cement that most (if not all) of the pictures of Cement that I had seen were the Pro trim which has painted flares and front piece. I think that makes a HUGE difference in appearance. When I got mine -- in a sport, it was just too much Cement. I priced out replacement (black) flares and front piece and it's just too much for me to spend so I'm going the same route as you. In fact, I 'm going to plastidip the badges as well to get rid of almost all of the chrome that does not play well with Cement (in my opinion).

A few questions if you don't mind:

    1. You mention that you only used 3 cans. Is that for the flares and the front piece? I've heard others say they used 6 cans and I want to make sure I have enough (but not too many, ha ha).
    2. How many light coats did you do to each piece?
    3. Did you just use the plain old black plastidip (found at the big-box home improvement stores)?
    4. Did you tape/mask all the way up to the fender edge or did you leave a bit of overlap and do some peeling?
    5. What did you use to fill the license plate holes (and did you dip right over those)?

I've only plastidipped one time in my life -- a chrome piece on the front of my wife's old Saturn Vue. I still have it and the dip is really weathered from being outside for years and years (but still looks fine, really). I don't anticipate that problem on my truck (garage-kept) but I am curious as to the process you used. Honestly, I don't even remember doing it on my wife's car because it was so long ago.

Thanks again for posting. I'm hoping to get it done SOON since I really like the truck, but not so much all of that Cement paint.

EDIT: Added one more question ;)

I did the fender flares this morning, turned out pretty sweet. I used 3 cans total, 4 coat each. The pictures are from the first coat and fourth coat. I end up breaking 5 clips, so I couldn't attached the two rear flares. Waiting for the clips to be shipped from Amazon.

Yeah that's 3 cans for all 4 fenders and the nose with 5 complete coats plus 2-3 light coats over the outer facing edges for good measure.

I had 48in 3M plastic around all the fenders covering the paint (again, overkill but I had it on hand) so I only had to wipe up a couple tiny spots where the tape came loose. 12in paper in the wheel wells and plastic loosely draped around the tires.

Wherever I could, I worked the masking tape edge under the edge of the flare. There were a couple spots where I gently used a box cutter to create separation as I unmasked.

Painted right over the license plate holes which are still there, but the black color hides them well. I'm not required to show a front license in NC but I bought the truck in a state that does so unfortunately the holes are here to stay.

And plain old black plastidip, 5.50 a can! No finish gloss coats in my case.

$5.50 a can is cheap! Home Depot in Canada wants $23 a can!

Has anyone plastidipped their 2017 SR5 snowflakes? Been searching everywhere for a photo before I pull the trigger.

Looks great! Thinking of taking on this soon too, but kind of nervous removing the flares because of the clips. I heard you can buy replacement clips at a local auto store for cheap instead of waiting for your Amazon shipment. I might just leave the flares on the truck and plastidip on it, making sure all areas are covered.

I just finished my side mirrors today on my white sport. I didn't take a photo, but I'll get one tomorrow. Looks great in my opinion!

It's to fix their lungs when they accidentally inhale the plastidip.

Thanks, didn't realize that local auto store had them. Toyota wanted $5 for the blue clips and $2 for the red clips. Talk about outrageous.

It was pretty easy, I started at the corners, and slowly work my way up. The first clip will probably break, but just go slow and you'll be fine.

Dipped my side mirror covers yesterday. Started to get windy in my area, so before each coat, I had wet sand the dust and specs that got stuck, which made the whole process longer than it should've been. Anyways, I think it gives the white a nice contrast. Looking forward to doing my flares next!

I want to do my side mirrors as well.
Did you derp the side mirror covers in place, or did you remove them first?
