There’s a set of used BAMF bolt-on’s for sale that are priced right so I figured I’d see what I’d be getting into before I did it. I don’t own a Magdrill.

Oh, well if you have lots of stamina, a good drill, and a largish collection of bits go for it. Just a pain drilling the frame so much.

Looks awesome except for those CV angles...those fins look really crunched together, gonna rub themselves apart in no time.

    Check Build thread
Just weld the bolt on sliders..

Welding them will make them more secure for actual usage plus they say if you bolt them on your supposed to put a spacer in between the frame so it doesn’t get squished by the bolts tightening apparently

I had the same problem when I first installed my Kings with the amount of adjustment I put on them...I put a diff drop in but unfortunately it hardly helped, it mostly helped with the inner boot angles but the outer boots were still just as bad as before. I ended up having to lower my front lift down about a half inch to get them fins in the right place. Might want to look into the boot slide mod to help with those angles along with a diff drop

I'll have to do that. I installed a 1 inch diff drop and am waiting on UCA to correct the rest of the suspension geometry. was beginning to wonder if i was going to have to invest in a longer diff drop.

The routing alone on the 4cyl makes it wrap around the SC pulley way more than the V6 though which is nice. Gonna start dismantling tonight.

    Help
    have 98 Tacoma 2.4 2wd standard trans.
Lately when I have been driving to work or back about 10 to 15 minutes (65-70 mph) in my drive it cut out for a second ( like it missing on 1 or more cylinders). it might do it a second time a minute later then fine. Truck run great no hesitation good power good gas mileage. Replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires, coils. tried to do a fuel preasure test but not sure how accurate or if it told me any thing. The Haynes manual says you turn the key to the on position and should run the fuel pump. when I tried this it would only run when I tried to start it. Is this normal operation??? the only code that its through is po420. which I had already changed both 02 sensors and the truck has always given me that code for the past 8 years or so. don't think the code has anything to do with this problem. Please help at a loss

I wouldn't do too large of a diff drop, the standard size one is as much as I would do to be safe...all they really do is tilt your diff forward and if you tilt it too far you can mess with the proper circulation of the gear oil within the diff (so I've read). Also it lowers the clearance of your differential and makes it harder to fit a front skid on if it gets dropped/tilted too low. I think the boot slide mod is the next best thing to look into if you're still having CV angle issues once the diff drop goes in.

There's also a company (RCV I think?) that makes 'high angle CV boots' that address this issue, they might be pricey though.

Oh and I read on a t4R forum that spraying the boots with silicone lubricant every so often helps preserve the fins, but I don't think that will do much if they're crunched up against one another. But I do it every oil change just to help protect the integrity of the boot material.

thanks for the info. it seems the inner boots now that everything has settled are fine. but the outer boot fins are still touching. does the boot slide work on the outers? I'll have to look into the higher angle boots.

Picked it up from the body shop today! Looks really good imo! Glad to have it back but this new shiny paint makes me want to polish the whole truck.
