Has anyone tried a pedal commander throttle response controller on their 3rd G Taco?

yes. it was great until i found a real solution with the OV tune. you can find links to the threads for OV: Alpha, MT, and AT.

no need for throttle signal modulators like the Pedal Commander with this. expensive but an actual performance solution rather than a bandaid on top of a dysfunctional factory ECU tune, which is what came with your truck. my suggestion is don't bandaid the fix.

I mean, you could use that and have no gains outside of better throttle input. Or you could get the tune and get better shifting, throttle, and even more torque and horsepower

to be clear i loved the Pedal Commander. it saved me from selling the truck... that's how disappointed i was in the muted factory performance. the PC did everything i wanted and i could give it rave reviews. but if you're looking to get your truck right, there's a solution now in the OV tune where i would not call the PC an actual solution... IMO.

I've got a 2.7L MT Tacoma, no OV Tune available, so something like this is my only option. I'm leaning toward the Sprint Booster. You can unplug the controller from the pedal adapter once you've got a setting you like.

Had a sprintbooster in my JK and liked it.It did what Rob said in his video. All it does is take out the lazy drive by wire feel.If you offroad and dont wont the touchy throttle you can easily turn it off. There 20 something settings. They are allmost 300.00 I think, half way to a tune. But,if you dont want to mess with a tune this is a good option. My truck drives fine for me now, find one used half price(on the forum) I may jump on one,Hint.

Get the OV Tune instead. I have both. If you have OV Tune you don't need the PC.

This is kinda baffling to me... does it just change the throttle response curve or something?

Why can't people just push the pedal further? It works for me, it could work for you, too, AND could save you hundreds of dollars!

it is simply a throttle signal modulator... it just amplifies or reduces the signal based on throttle position, so it tells the motor ECU you're in a different position than you actually are.

but the voodoo here for all who have one is that it just does not behave the same as if you are more aggressive with the throttle. cannot explain. but it's different, no question about it.

Every time I get in my 97 Honda Civic, after driving my Taco, I over-throttle the hell out of it 'cause my foot has been compensating for the horrible throttle-by-wire response in the Taco. Anything that will get me closer to the response of a throttle cable is money well spent in my book.

the OV tune achieves a much more linear throttle. that was the whole point when the early adopters were pushing him to do an initial offering... driveability through a more linear throttle. the non-linear factory throttle didn't even qualify as a bad joke.

I'd be all over the OV Tune if they had one for my truck.

You got it.I drove TJs and XJs for years. They have drive by cable.I got in a JK,its drive by wire(lazy throttle response).Alls the sprint booster did is give me the the more direct reponse the drive by cable did in the TJs and XJs.
