    @Matic I just might be going up Saturday after all. It's a definite maybe.

    In laws may be coming to stay for the weekend and the MIL is in hate-Eric-mode right now, so might end up camping out. :rofl:

    Well, I don't have the gear to camp out but I was going to try and hit it early and explore as much as I could.

    Btw, the guy that came and got my camper shell said he was camping at the boat ramp past jumping off rock in HPR.
    There were a bunch of people down there.
    DNR came thru and went right down the line and ticketed them all for camping and open fires. $110 each.

    That's a nice thing about Chestnut Mountain and Musterground is they have places set aside for camping, no open fires, but controlled fires are allowed.

    Yeah they probably got ticketed for camping there. As far as I know it’s not allowed. Could definitely be wrong but I think you can only camp in the designated spots off the side roads.

    There are lakeside camping spots but they are “boat in” and are part of devils fork SP. I think most lakes in the state are against shore camping iirc.

    Yea. Absolutely no camping at the boat ramp.
    The fires? I don't know. The web scdnr page plainly states "no fires".
    But I see fire pits all over HP.

    If jocassee is a Army Corps of Engineers lake, the first 30 ft of shoreline is considered Corp property and you cannot alter it in any way without permission. May be where the tickets came from.

    True. But you can't camp on a boat ramp either.
    I've been down there and seen 6-7 vehicles all packed in that circle. You can't even get a boat to the water.
