I just picked up a 2018 black manual Tacoma TRD Pro on 4/6 and I’m wondering what mods others did first to their Tacomas. I’ve only had the front windows tinted so far. Interested in knowledge on headlight bulbs. Recent research on the subject says that the LED bulbs are plug and play but don’t throw the light as far out. HIDs on the other hand work better with the projectors. Also interested in some LED light bars and possibly roof racks.

I did tires right away. Sold stock tires on CL to offset cost. Then ordered sliders and have been throwing money at it ever since. The forum is full of endless mods.

Still can't believe with all the inflated price, they put shit tires on them and glossy wheels. Nice truck but Toyota come on now.

I would do tires right away but I have the 5&1 program on this truck which I plan on using to get new tires again at some point. I wish they at least came with nitto grapplers like the 4Runner TRD Pro.

    Yeah.
Nice Pro! At least the tires are not Dunflops or Rugged Fails. They aren't that bad, but only slightly better than mediocre. I'll run mine until they need replacing.

I did the Subaru tweeter and speaker upgrade for the stereo, cheap and a HUGE improvement, and plug-and-play if you go through Crutchfield and get all the adapters. The 2018 WeatherTechs were just recently released, so you can finally order those. I did the TRD CAI because it looks cool, didn't expect any performance gains and probably got none, at least not measurable, but it's purty. CBI bed rack for the tent, 1up hitch rack for the mountain bikes. CB stuff arrives tomorrow. I think I am set after that. I did the Redline hood struts on my 2nd gen, really cool upgrade but not too useful on a newer, more reliable truck.

Ran some trails last weekend, nothing crazy but some rough parts. The Fox suspension is really well done IMHO. Smooths out potholes and doesn't shake you to death on the slow, rocky stuff.

Thanks for the input! I really wanted a Calvary Blue Pro in manual but there were only 4 pros witching 50 miles of my place and the only manual was this black one which I obviously fell in love with haha. Apparently less than 5% of Tacoma’s are manual now. Pretty excited to have such a rare truck.

Good looking truck! Some of the first things I did with mine were a bed mat, bed cover, all weather mats (Weathertech), tailgate clamp, hood struts by redline, and changed out the interior bulbs to led.

Did your Pro not cone with the JBL Entune navi setup? I thought the Subaru upgrade was only the nonJBL setups and I thought all Pros came with the upgraded radio/nav?

So my 2017 could benefit from the Subaru/Kicker upgrade?

So that upgrade is coming with the 2019 Pro. The 2018 still doesn’t have it. I would have had to get the limited if I wanted the jbl sound system. I personally don’t care for the “snorkel” that comes with the 2019 which is why I decided on not waiting for the 2019.

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
Damn I wish I was able to find a manual. The automatics definitely have some sort of transmission issues. I was getting tailed by a Mazda 3 heading up to Yosemite. That shouldn’t happen period. SMH

    Yeah.
No JBL, just the 7" Entune Premium -- which is actually easier to upgrade than the JBL system. Although, probably doesn't need upgrading if it has JBL. It seems like JBL goes with moonroof, and the Pro does not come with a moonroof.

Yea the JBL comes with the limited model which has the moon roof. I am a big fan of this Entune system.
